I'd still put money on him considering Josh Jackson as the pick. He honestly loves guys like Jackson who have no jumper but plays excellent defense and is a really really good athlete. I'm also not sold its Fultz because everyone assumes he's the pick. Danny Ainge LOVES being the smartest person in the room. Picking Jackson over Fultz and having Jackson as the better pro 10 years from now proves he is the smartest in the room. So right now I'd put it at 75% Fultz 25% Jackson.

Which is why he drafted Kelly Olynyk and RJ Hunter and James Young right?

I assure you when he drafted Olynyk he thought that KO was going to be a really good shooting big and thats a rare commodity currently. Lots of mocks had Greek Freak at that spot or around it. He even went as far to call GA the next Pippen. RJ Hunter and James Young were shoot first lottery tickets. I'll counter with Marcus Smart over Julius Randle. Jaylen over Murray is going to be very close we won't know who the better pick would be for the next few years. Danny Ainge has a type it doesn't mean EVERY pick will be that type. But its telling that his last two lottery picks were both players who can play multiple positions and had serious questions about offense. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

So he has a type only when it suits your agenda. You're talking out of your ass:

No I just explained it. Even if a GM has a type that doesn't mean he won't take BPA at 17 or 28. So once again you're talking out of your ass.

Comparing methods on drafting early lottery picks to RJ Hunter/James Young is ridiculous. Olynyk? Fine even though it was the weakest draft in a decade and at the time it was BPA. But again he wanted to try and get cute with the draft and it bit him in the ass. When a GM says a player is the next Pippen you generally expect him to take that player. Unless he talks himself out of it. So yes he has a specific type that he targets until he shows that he doesn't.

No he doesn't. Show me one publication that had Brown at 3. Most called it a reach. Rozier was another guy who fit his profile but you neglected to mention him because of course it didn't fit your point. Smart was toss up from a lot of people where two or three players could have went in that spot. Team needed rebounding and scoring and where did he go with the pick? Defense first that shot awful in college. You're embarrassing yourself here.

To be Clear I'm not saying he won't pick Fultz. But rather the rumors are picking up that he's interested in Jackson isn't a shock because that is his type of player.

There were several that had Brown at 3 and Smart wasn't a reach either. Rozier can shoot, so I don't have a clue what you're talking about with that one. There was no consensus third pick last year after Simmons and Ingram. There was that entire group of Brown, Murray, Chriss, Bender and Dunn.

I want you the show me one publication where he was the consensus 3. Most had him around 5-8 one even had him at 10. Rozier was shooting 30% from 3 when he was drafted. I never called Smart a reach though. I said Danny Ainge has a type of player. Marcus Smart plays multiple positions plays lockdown defense and has a terrible shot. I would actually think that out of that group that Dunn and Murray were the most popular picks for 3.

Fair enough. Now if you read it it does note that Brown would be a surprise but that Boston does like him. Him and Smart fit the same profile of guys coming out of college who could play d, play multiple positions and struggled with shooting. It also brings up the man crush he had on Winslow who is more or less the same type of player as well. Although I think Brown has a higher ceiling.

They fit the profile of BPA.

Not really. The writer made a guess based on what he had heard when it came to Brown. He even mentioned that his stock had dropped it doesn't really fit the profile of BPA. Smart Randle Exum were all around the same. But again you can say that he doesn't have a type but he lusted after Winslow offering a ton of picks for him. He drafted Brown which in a sense is a better version of Winslow but the jumper still has a lot to be desired and Smart. All 3 have a lot left to be desired offensively but are really good defensive players that can play multiple positions. Its not an accident he's targeting those players. It could be that he thinks defense is harder to learn than offense and looks at a guy like Leonard in San Antonio and sees a scenario where Brown Winslow or Smart can become 20 PPG elite players. But you have to acknowledge at this point he has shown a preference for this type of player.

I mean hell he made it a point to grab Crowder in the Rondo deal and he's along this type of player as well. Not saying that this is an awful thing but Fultz is not assured to be the #1 by any stretch.

This is the thread of hope. Draft Fultz, keep him along with Isaiah perhaps. Draft next year. And built a young team in 3-4 years that will dominate for the next 10.

Mock drafts had Brown everywhere from 3 to 8. As they did every other player who wasn't Simmons or Ingram.

When you have number one, you take the number one guy. It is sheer lunacy to do otherwise. If he doesn't take Fultz, he should be fired. It's not time to hope for development. You don't hope with the number one overall.

I'm one of few people here leaning towards Josh Jackson. I just find him much more reassuring in interviews than Fultz. I can't rule out the possibility that Fultz is in it for the paychecks above all else. Not that I think he is likely to bust, but I can't help but notice parallels to James Harden, down to the eyes, the bloated face, and the decision to attend a non-competitive PAC school. Harden's had a really nice career but is he that savior who is worth the #1 pick?

I know that the world seems convinced that Fultz is the better prospect, but good SF prospects are almost always slept on a little bit. There was very little hype surrounding Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. PP dropped to 9th overall. Jimmy Butler went end of first round. Wiggins went #1 but many here doubted him and thought he was going to be closer to Jeff Green than a stud. That Jackson is considered a consensus top 3 pick, is a pretty good sign in and of itself.

Then you know nothing about Markelle. Stop trying to subvert the Celtics. There is a reason every actual basketball scout/analyst says its Fultz, then everyone else. I really believe those who say Jackson are just trolls.

I don't think those who say Jackson would be labeled trolls, they just have the preference of this player IMO. I agree though that this draft is inching more and more into the "Fultz and others" category. He is just too good already to take over someone who is a "might be better".

This pretty much. They are biased.
Good assessment:
