lack of vertical athleticism is his biggest flaw. If he was a little bouncier he would be a candidate for 1st overall.

How do you like his fit on the Suns?
Not a great fit but not a horrible one either, it's just meh. You could be looking at a great scoring combo though with Booker and Tatum. Just don't think Bledsoe is the PG to tie those two together.

Would you go for someone else at 4 if you're the Suns?

Tatum might be the best fit there but I won't be shocked if you guys trade the pick. I think you guys either trade the pick or trade Bledsoe and draft Fox.

Kawhi?
He's one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. So no.
Someone said Tatum will be a very good mid/elbow scorer in the NBA. You said nobody is looking for these types of players. Kawhi is that type of player. Yes, he has additionally become a good three point shooter (not one of the best - last season was an outlier. Mid to upper 30s every other season of his career, including this one) but the mid-range is a large part of his game. So yes. It's gotta be extremely rare for any college freshman in the last 15 years to shoot 85% from the line who went onto the NBA and didn't become a good three point shooter. Tatum will very likely be a ~38% 3pt shooter like Kawhi.

IMO, Tatum's not a bad fit, but he's not an ideal one, either.
If you like Warren and you're keen to move Bledsoe, Fox makes a tonne of sense. If you're going to go SF, Jackson makes a lot of sense as a swiss-army knife guy and defender, and you'll have lots of shooters around him.
Tatum is a great all around player and will add firepower, but I feel a volume scorer like him isn't the perfect fit next to Booker. You could also argue that he might eventually be a PF and in that case there's a bit of crossover between someone like him and Chriss or even Bender.
I wouldn't consider anyone else for the Suns outside of those 3, though. Unless Ball drops, which feels unlikely but I wouldn't completely rule out. He'd be a nice fit and might usher in a new era of exciting fast paced Suns offense.

I think if Jackson drops he will be the pick for sure. I only ask about Tatum under the assumption Jackson is gone. Though who knows what the front office is really thinking. I can't imagine them not taking Jackson if he is there.

Chad Ford was on Phoenix radio yesterday and called him a "pathetic defender" which I thought was harsh. From the times I saw him play he was at least putting forth the effort. He also seemed like a willing passer. Definitely not a 'great' passer but he shares it more than the ISO-stereotype suggests. Makes me think he's coachable.

He better be a good 3pt shooter, because like I said nobody is looking for a great mid-range jump shooter. Except Dallas when they signed Harrison Barnes.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

He is a good passer with space in front of him and clear passing lines, or if he is on the move, if he gets the ball in halfcourt settings, he isnt really generating any advantage for you, he is a ball mover more than a passer.
Defensively he is gonna be in the right spots, but can't really stay with quicker Guards, hopefully in time he can check out bigger guys and be an asset that way like Barnes is.
The hope for him is that he can shoot it, kill switches if he gets a smaller guy defending him, move the ball well enough and be consistent on d even if he is never gonna be a stopper.
He likely tops as a good starter in a good team, can't see him been much more, but still at his position that's really valuable, enough to get him drafted in the 2nd half of the top10.
He'd have been 7-8th for me if Miles Bridges had declared, with Bridges out I think he is a reasonable pick from 5th to 7th, he gets bumped due to positional scarcity.

I think if there were actual mid-range jump shooters in the league, we might actually see teams use them, but since no one is ever really good at pulling up from mid-range after penetration, then we just don't see it. It's a skill that has been overlooked imo.

Dirk is one of the best mid-range jump shooters of all time and even he barely gets above 50%. You can't run an efficient offense anymore built around at best a shot that is 50%.

That is one play where he gambled and went for a steal. Tatum was by far the most versatile and best defender behind Amile Jefferson. Per 40 he averaged 1.5 blocks and steals and had a 4.1 DBPM and a team best 97 DRTG, his DRTG looks even more impressive when you compare it to the rest of the team's big time minute guys like Luke, Grayson and Matt who all had DRTGs of 104.

Please could you explain me why tatum couldn't become a great defender?
All experts keep praising his advanced offense and he has the physical tools to be a great defender too.
Am I missing something?

I think people are worried about foot speed. Either than that I don't see why he wouldn't be a good defender. He was by far Duke's best defender last year and showed a ton of versatility. I'm not saying I think he's going to be a great defender from day 1, but in a couple years I think he's going to be known as a two way player. The dude is tall, long and has good fundamentals and IQ on defense. And if you're worried about foot speed, just watch Joe Ingles defend guards out on the perimeter.

That's what I thought, he has longer wingspan than jackson and doesn't look slower.

Re: Tatum
His style doesn't really fit with today's NBA. He's awesome, but he's a ball stopper, elbow iso player like Melo and Tobias Harris (closest comparison)
He can be a top scorer for years, but his style normally doesn't translate to winning. He can go to a team like Orlando, score 23ppg in his prime just on jab steps and face up post touches, yet not impact games.
I hope he becomes a great defender. If he's a two-way player, then you can talk about being a superstar.
