What if we trade the #1 pick, Avery Bradley, Boston 18 pick and Memphis 19 pick for the #3 pick and Ben Simmons. Tbh I'm willing to throw in more if DA has a strong feeling about who he can get at #3.

After getting the #1 pick, I'm now resolved to just trade for Tyson Chandler if they fail to sign Hayward. I'm assuming the Suns are motivated to move him and the C's can get him for a minimal cost.

I’ll tell you this: before the draft last year, Danny [Ainge] was trying to get two picks, not just Jaylen Brown. He had two people. He was trying to get two picks. He was on the phone with everybody from coast to coast and he was offering everyone, and that includes Marcus Smart and Isaiah Thomas and anything they needed to get where he wanted to go. There were no untouchables on that team last year. The only untouchable now I’d say is Al Horford.

Report: Danny Ainge offered Isaiah Thomas for a lottery pick last year

OK, but that doesn't mean he would have traded him for the #5 pick or #10. Maybe, he would have but this is total speculation on her part and given the timing, it is suspect as well. Also, Ainge would trade anyone if it made the team better. Holy smoke, what a shock.

The bottomline is if the Celtics draft Fultz and are fortunate to sign Hayward then they have a ton of players to get a big.

Bradley, Crowder, Smart, Rozier etc can all be used to trade for a quality big. I expect Ainge to go out and get another big to go with Horford, Zizic and Yabusele. I'm not expecting Olynyk back.

I'd like to see what it takes to get Minny's pick to potentially pick up Collins or Issac. Maybe I don't have Thibs pegged right, but he seems like the kind of guy who would take a Bradley or Crowder for a draft pick. This is all assuming we pick Fultz and have the inside track on Hayward, though.

Also don't know if it's a great idea to go into next season with a ton of rookie bigs (Zizic, Yabu, Collins/Issac) but whatever, heh.

I cannot imagine any other team in the top 10 trading their pick for players, though, other than maybe the Knicks..but that's because Jackson is silly.

If you sign Hayward it seems like if you want another star (and you don't want to give up your top pick) then Jaylen Brown is the chip out.

Plus the Jazz can pay Hayward a few more millions, so if Utah offers to play ball so Gordon can get all his dollars... the rights to Yabusele could be the comp.

If we can't sign Hayward, there's no way I'm trading the 2018 Brooklyn pick for Butler or George.

I'm offering Phil Jackson a package of Crowder, Johnson, Rozier and a first of ours or two for Carmelo Anthony and Kyle O'Quinn.

This way you upgrade the SF spot, thin the PG glut, improve the frontcourt, improve the scoring, give IT a second option and keep assests intact for another future move.

Thomas/Smart
Bradley/Fultz
Anthony/Brown
Horford/Yabusele
O'Quinn/Zizic

That's not too shabby.

Now you still have another chance at a lottery pick and you can still compete at a high level for 2018 with improved talent.

Interesting.

I'm wondering if maybe you don't go the other way possibly. If you don't get Hayward and you don't trust Griffin, don't think Butler is worth the #1, don't think George will resign, then do you move Isaiah and AB instead?

Love this idea. Mentioned here before myself. The move AB for whatever you could get, maybe to Sac or Dallas for Noel or wherever. Bring up the kids from "draft n stash" and the D-League.

PG Smart
SG Fultz
SF Jaylen
PF Al
C Noel

Bench: Terry, Nader, Crowder, Yabusele, Zizic, Collins/Isaac

Frightfully young I know, but an interesting and talented nucleus that could grow together. All of those kids strike me as hard-working, good character kids. We would absolutely fall back a bit but considering the East, I think that team could challenge for an 8 spot.

Just one iteration of how this could go.

I'd do Crowder (or Crowder & 2018 Celtics) for the Knicks pick, since they have a lot of interest in him, but they seem to be heavily invested in drafting the BPA - Best Point Available. Thibs could be interested in some sort of Bradley combo - Bradley & a Future First; Bradley & Crowder - I'm not sure Bradley has Top 7 Pick in this Draft value...

A team that might make a lot of sense for both Bradley and Crowder are the Mavs,
they're not much into rebuilding, and they want to surround Nowitzki with quality veterans.
Of course, the last Boston trade with them, didn't work out too well,
but try try again. One of Collins or Isaac could still be available at 9...

I'm not sure either but the question that we'd have to ask Thibs is how much younger does he want to get given his talent? LaVine is nice but he really struggled defensively last year. Incorporating a no-nonsense excellent perimeter defender like AB, someone that leads by example is just what those young kids need over there. Thibs knows AB, he comes from Doc's school of generally preferring veteran players. If Dunn comes back improved, then Rubio can be moved later. All the sudden you have Dunn, AB, Wiggins, KAT, Dieng starting and if you want to play a little small ball, sub in Lavine off the bench. Now maybe you have a group that could maybe make a playoffs.

Mentioned this above. IT for Nerlens and their pick. If needed throw in OUR '18 for next year.

They get a legitimate PG to play with Nowitzki and Barnes. We get the young big with the defensive potential and at 9 who knows what else.

Expiring AB does not get us nb.7 from minny...but Ab+crowder may be tempting for Thibs.

You do understand that 30 ppg scorers don't grow on trees and nearly noone in the league would let IT go for Noel who will get paid the same money doing a lot less on the court. Also in the past 3 years every year we've built on our previous year's success. We aren't in threadmill teritory yet to basically dump Thomas to the Mavs. Not after he had probably the most efficient season for a player scoring ~30 points a game.
Good assessment:

You might know better, but my take on Jackie is that she doesn't get along with the Wyc-era people but still has someone on the inside giving her info. She was right about Rondo.

Also seems possible we were trying to get a second pick to trade for Butler, or were putting guys like IT on the table to get a lotto pick *and* more compensation. Wouldn't surprise me, though, if we wanted Jamal Murray or Chriss.

Trading IT is a total redirection, I don't think we're there. We have a chance to be a contender with superstars in waiting.

AB could get you the 7, to take Collins, Isaac, Monk, whoever.

I don't understand how you say "30 ppg scorers don't grow on trees" and also say "Noel will get paid the SAME money". Noel is not a 30ppg scorer. I'm evaluating 2 players who are each effective at one end of the floor and currently make the same amount. He'll never score 30 again on this team considering the talent we'll be adding but aside from that, you may not have had a chance to read it yet but I posted my concerns about this hip injury and what it could mean in the Isaiah thread. I'm not sure I trade Isaiah but I DEFINITELY don't want to extend him on a 5 year deal, and now, maybe not even a 4 year deal either.

We could swerve, trade IT and Bradley for rookie scale guys or picks, draft Fultz, max Hayward, and go after Kyle Lowry or George Hill. Just think it's unlikely and even wrong - IT is a guy free agents will want to play with, and he can carry tons of offensive responsibility. He and Hayward would both love the chance to take a play off once in awhile.
