Jokic was a meh pick to most of you. I talked about Schroder all year before the draft and he didn't even show up on the boards til the very end.

Embracing ignorance should not be applauded. Cryille is basically a sophomore in college getting 22 mpg for paris. A team that would smash any college team. Would smash that team down under Ferguson plays on too.

You weren't exactly pushing Jokic so please don't act like you were. Schroder isn't exactly setting the world on fire for that matter either.

He got teague traded. I'm pushing the teaching of basketball fundamentals which our country does a poor job of.

I'm not a big phil jackson fan either and feel he is out of touch. But the triangle can still work well... with the right players. Just not aau guys.

Cryille can d up, shoot it, and has head at the rim hops. You should know him.

The Hawks are now looking for a new GM and President, so I don't know that using Teague being traded 11 months ago to be a big deal.

As for Cryille I will do more research but right now it doesn't look promising. Playing for a powerhouse in Europe means that every team knows him, yet he is still projected as a late 2nd is a bad sign. Either he is not coming over or they do not believe he will translate. Reportedly he has terrible handles and cannot create for himself and others, his release is very slow, and he struggles under any kind of pressure. Hyperathletic players bust every year in the NBA, they need more skills than that.

Oh save the drama. I would go Euro more often than not because their youth systems teach skills and we have the AAU system. There are small countries producing high level talent consistently. The reason Kobe was Kobe is because he grew up in Italy.

Because you haven't heard of someone doesn't mean anything other than you can't speak to their abilities.

Jokic went 41st and now the Nuggets are building an entire team around him. Time to wake up to reality.

Hm... what foreign country did lebron grow up in to be lebron? Or MJ to be Mj? Or any of the other top 50 players in NBA history outside of dirk?

Settle down gents - no personal attacks please

What was personal about that? He said Kobe was only great because he grew up in Italy and that's why foreign players are better than American players, and I responded that 48 of the 50 best players in the history in the league grew up here. I feel like that was pretty tame.

Let's just say that the sarcasm and response were bordering on personal attacks.
You are correct, there weren't any, but we had 2 or 3 posts in a row that were increasing in hostility.
I was taught that when using sarcasm, post it in a green font. It helps keep misunderstandings down.
Remember that with no non-verbals, mis-communication occurs more easily.
Notice no one was singled out and no one received an official warning or even an informal warning.
It was just an observation of the increasing temperature of the posts in my opinion.
Then again, I've been wrong before and I'm betting I'll be wrong again.

His release was slow and low... 2 years ago. He's made some big strides. Just from watching the latest youtube scouting report you can see his shot is much improved. I have him as a bubble 1st. If Ferguson is a 1st rounder. He is too.

Then again, what player looks bad on his youtube?
I'd put him in the "somewhere in the second" category and I wouldn't be shocked if he went undrafted.

What I see is a guy who depends heavily on athleticism in a league where many of their perimeter players struggle to come to the NBA due to lack of athleticism. What happens when he does not have that advantage? While his release is quicker than it was, it is still not what I would call a quick release, a lot of those shots he got off in his highlights would not have gotten off if the defender could jump an extra couple of inches or was slightly quicker. I am not all that impressed.

As for being a bubble 1st, you seem to be the only one, most don't seem to think he is even getting drafted.

He looks like much more of a player than Cordinier that went mid 2nd last year. If he were to go undrafted over an nonathletic and locked in Vezenkov that would be a mistake. But it's not like great players don't sometimes go undrafted. Surely the Nuggets would like to throw 8 or 10 million at Milos.

I see your Jazz more likely to throw $10M at Teosodic than the Nuggets as they're quite likely to lose out on Hill trying to keep Hayward and/or Ingles

I am sure that the Nuggets front office wishes they would have drafted Tedosic 8 years ago when he was draft eligible, forget the fact we have been through 2 front offices since then. Also a guy getting an MLE deal is not saying much, that is what we are talking about a 30 year old MLE guy.

I do have a serious question though. What is your connection to the French guys? In the past I believe you have indicated you are in the states, and you are just a Euro league fan, but you are a French team fan. We all know you started posting on here when we got Fournier, were around when Lauvergne was here, started posting on the Jazz board when they got Gobert. So what is it about the French players?

One of the problems with drafting European players (even some other non-USA players too) is that not all want to play in the NBA. Arvydas Sabonis & Oscar Schmidt spring to mind and there have been others. That is added to the issue of; "Do their skills translate?" The current Nuggets' regime has chosen some good talents, one of whom didn't fit and they traded. They have also drafted some that are still unknowns. Who knows, Jokic s drafting may have been pure luck. We'll have to see. But I'm still willing to believe in the Nuggets' international knowledge (for now).

I grew up a later English fan and big Mutombo fan. Some former Soviet satellite states have outstanding youth programs. France has a diverse immigrant population and a good youth system. That's similar to how giannis made it big... a semi illegal immigrant in greece that got good training young enough to become a superstar.

Evan Fournier is versatile, and I wish denver kept him. Cant believe he's the same age as gobert.

No offense to larry eustachy's drinking bud, but i prefer my news from Europe. Cska president says he can't compete with nba money anymore. If Milos gets non tax payer mle or bigger offer he's leaving europe. Even hold out ante tomic has to be tempted by 30 or 40 million pre tax

Fournier is not versatile, he needs the ball in his hands a high percentage of the time, he struggles as a spot up shooter, his defense sucks. Overall he is like a better version of Barton, but not good enough to be a star.

Also you still have never answered me about why they obvious French bias?

I cant help it if gobert is playing like bill russell. I'll always be biased towards youth systems that drill and develop. The same bias exists for novi sad, belgrade, etc.

It's like women. You can get yourself an exotic woman with a great personality overseas or date the overvalued obese women of the midwest. Spears or simpson might go lotto but you end up much better off late 1st or in the 2nd with shakira

2017 Draft

Post#277 » by Logan18 » Mon May 22, 2017 7:41 pm

First Pre-Draft workout was this morning! 5 prospects came to work out, no big names though:

Gain Clavell
Yante Maten
Eric Mika
Jacob Wiley
Nelson Khaler

I really like Gian Clavell, and would be thrilled if we used a second round pick on him. I think he's good enough right now to play significant minutes off of the bench for an NBA team, and I like his fit with the nuggets. He plays tough perimeter defense, shoots the three well, as well as passes and rebounds well. Add this to the fact that he's a gym rat and a great locker room guy, and I think he'd be a steal in round 2.

He'd create even more of a logjam at the 2 spot, but he'd give us more flexibility to trade Barton, and experiment further with Murray/Beasley at the one.

Thoughts on Clavell, or who we should go after with picks 49/51?

Eric Mika was the main big white stiff that played with cam Oliver at the combine that decided that it would be good for his draft stock to throw up an awful shot every time he touched the ball. Please don't waste a second on that guy.

Anyone think of the possibility of trading down? I really don't like many of the prospect in our range except for OG Anunoby and we could get him much later in the draft. My Big board for our pick is to trade down and get OG and Giles if we can and Trade up in the second round to get Isaiah Hartenstein.

Return to Denver Nuggets
