2017 And One - Draft Thread

Draft Rules:

1. Every player from 2016-17 season will be available to be drafted. You must use the 2016-17 season.

2. You are allowed one exception and may use it to draft any player from any season. In effect, you are building a 2017 team to play under 2017 rules and adding one all-time great of your choosing. You may use a .85 multiplier for this player on seasons before 1976-77. You can use your exception on an earlier version of a player who played in 2016-17.

3. The winner of the draft will be decided by a playoff or ranking system to be determined, based on the number of sign ups, etc.

4. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. All eight players will be required to play 8 minutes in your game rotations.

5. You do not need to specify if you are using a player's 2017 season or your exemption on him until the draft is concluded. You may draft your one exemption at any time.

6. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

7. All players must have played in 50 games of the season selected.

8. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

9. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, you can and should be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. A player missing picks or causing consistent delays can be skipped early or replaced at the discretion of the commish.

9. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT. The clock begins Monday, May 22 at 9 AM EDT.

10. Draft order will be completely randomized.

11. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you as a courtesy so they will know that it is their turn. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. The next person's clock starts immediately after the prior pick, not when they are quoted.


Team Roster Page Rules:

1. You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players with seasons selected
. Rotations. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes.
. A write-up of how your team will excel
. You must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 90.0 FGA

Waffled back and fourth a few times on this one, but I'm going with....

Kawhi Leonard.

There's a part of me screaming that I'll regret giving up a shot at a top 10 player, but there's another part of me saying that Kawhi was pretty damn close to Lebron this year. He lead his team to 61 wins despite an aging supporting cast, and gives me a chance to build a more balanced roster.

I also think he will be the MVP this year, and that he deserves it.

Sweet, top 5! Snakes should be happy too.

This guy was my primary target when I saw my draft spot and I see no reason to deviate. His FGA are crazy low for his 2-way production and despite some injury issues this year he ultimately played 62 games and is transitioning into beast mode in the playoffs right now. Give me:

I was REALLY torn on this pick between 3 guys actually. 2 both cost 18-19 FGA, and the third costs about 8.5. Ultimately I think I need to get a better overall player. I'll take the guy who should win MVP this year.
