Since he loves volume scoring and Lakers, I know his pick

I'll be honest - I have no idea who I'll pick here. Don't really have any plan.
It may be shocking to you guys, but I actually drafted Kobe in the first ever fantasy draft game that I've ever played on RealGM, back in December of 2013 or January of 2014.
I have nothing against volume scorers, to be honest. As long as they are fairly efficient. As a matter of fact, playing these fantasy draft games on Trades and Transactions board, I often end up not caring enough about FGAs with my first two or three picks, and then have a hard time filling out the rest of my roster with good enough players.

Me neither. I went with Russell because of his low FGA, but Center is the deepest position by far in these games, so picking a center is generally not a great idea for a first pick.Quotatious wrote:I'll be honest - I have no idea who I'll pick here. Don't really have any plan.
I believe it. You are one of the most objective posters here, I was just poking fun at the conceived "Kobe hater", which we shouldn't mention because he hasn't been picked yetIt may be shocking to you guys, but I actually drafted Kobe in the first ever fantasy draft game that I've ever played on RealGM, back in December of 2013 or January of 2014.

Same. I have always ended up with someone who took 16-20 FGA/G who isn't a superstar, which isn't where you want to be in these things.

Pretty happy to get the big German, seems like a very fun guy to build around, and absolutely one of the most unique players ever.
I bought a boat.

I guess it was a stretch to hope he would come play with Russell?...

Well, you won't have that problem with Walton. Fun pick.

I agree that center is extremely deep. It's also rather important because the competition is so dense. The other centers are world beaters, so rolling out a guy who is generally considered excellent may leave you with a glaring deficiency. You obviously don't want a layup line for superstar wings, either, or to be playing 4-on-5 offensively. Center is tough.

I love my Walton pick. Basically as impactful as anyone drafted already but with lower FGA

I was thinking really hard about Curry. I think he's a fantastic pick in these drafts because the ceiling of a team you can build around him is basically unlimited. He's taken abetting in public opinion lately though, and that had me shy away. Watching a guy's career play out in real, time can make him much more volatile when he doesn't have the time to smooth over those scars the way other guys were drafting have.

Last time you built around two huge volume scorers- and that was with an 85 FGA limit.

I am pretty shocked Kareem dropped this low when Shaq went 5. I agonized over Kareem vs Walton, the lower FGA and comparable impact made me pick the latter.

It's interesting some other high volume scoring bigs were taken before KAJ. Kind of shows how overrated he is in ATG context.

Yeah, 14 does seem low for Kareem. But spacing is very valuable under modern rules and the guys who went ahead of him are elite exemplars of it. And as referred to previously, picking a centre first is often not optimal in a FGA limited draft.
In general (unless you go completely off the reservation as someone did last year) you aren't going to go far wrong with your first two picks though.

I am in the Czech Republic actually. I left the US after University and have been living in Prague as an expat, working and traveling and figuring myself out before I commit to a career or place long-term. Best decision I've made in my life so far.
Hmm sounds like a good move for me too when I finish up my masters next year.

It's a fantastic place to live for a foreigner. There's a huge English speaking population here since the demand for English teachers is so high. Cost of living is pretty low, public transport is amazing, the city itself is incredible, and it's probably the safest city in the entire world. Couldn't be happier.
