Fitting that he's going to another organization with meddling owners. Bon voyage Hammond. Thanks for Giannis.

This is surreal. Thought Hambone would hit the decade mark for sure.

Ah yes, free from the tyranny of a guy who assembled arguably the best young core in the Eastern Conference. Will be interesting to see if Hammond can rebuild an Orlando team sorely lacking in young talent.

Let's see what this Zanik guy can do.

As bad as it is that Hammond is leaving right before the draft, I'd still rather have him leave now (even with our draft strategies) than stay and make our picks knowing that he's going to take the Orlando job the next week.

That never became a good deal. And the same night he almost gave away the Giannis pick for Josh Smith.

Do we get any pick compensation for letting Hammond out of his contract early?

Sheesh RS is sleeping. Orlando Magic PR has already tweeted that the contract is signed and we're still sitting on this obsolete headline. Just unprofessional.

Stein: Hammond expected to join Weltman in ORL

The Tobias trade feels a lot like the Ray Allen trade. Players in return that don't want to be here and scoot at earliest opportunity. I blame Kohl; perhaps I'm wrong.
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

Yes, but what was the compensation? 4th rounder minimum or I scream.

Everyone hated it. Some continued to irrationally hate it years later. The constant bumping of that thread and revisiting of the trade was annoying, yes, but just because Tobias didn't exactly "take the next step" doesn't change the fact that it was a terrible deal, and a terrible line of thinking at the time.

Yeah I'm wondering if Babcock or McKinney get promoted or if they leave.

I am just remembering back to that time.

It was a bad trade but all was forgiven with Giannis.

Well this happened quickly. Would've liked him to get this draft in. Terrified at the thought of Kidd having even more power in draft selections.

I hope some reporter asks Hammond about what happened behind the scenes in the SJax trade
