I like Happ. The problem is they have to trade bats for arms at some point. I still don't think they are moving Schwarber, who should have been gone this past off-season. They are not moving Rizzo, Baez, Addy, Baez, or Zobrist. They shouldn't move Almora and I don't see them moving Heyward. Jon Jay doesn't get them anything in return. So that really just leaves Happ and Candelario to trade.

It was a good start to the home stand. They need to keep it going against the Brewers.

They have started hitting well. Arrieta with a solid performance. If Arrieta can get going it will be a huge boost to a rotation that has had issues.

Im trynna understand why almora jr plays so much.
Besides maddons maddoning lineups this year,
The cf position seems to be a weak position for us. Jon jay seems to he better than almora jr. an adequate replacement for fowler.
The way happ is playing its nice to think he can help us at that position or who knows become a star. Being a champion built from the ground up its hard to think we would be so deficient at a position. Its nice we were able to call up Happ one of our top prospects to help in a position of need.

It comes to mind that as the high draft picks stop coming in it will be more difficult to keep up the elite farm system.

We could always trade perceived mlb players like almora jr for prospects.
And make room for jon jay, Happ or even zobrist to help at centerfield.

A very nice home stand. Now they need to take that on the road. I hope that last start by Arrieta was him getting going and not just a random good start between more bad outings.

All 3 games were painful to watch. On the other hand they are only 1.5 games out of first and they get the Padres next then 10 games at home where they appear to have left their bats.

As frustrating as this is they are still only 1.5 out of first and half the team is playing below their established level of play. The veterans should get into form at some point. You don't win the World Series in May or June and they haven't put themselves in a hole yet. There is too much talent on the roster for them not to get going at some point.

We all know the cubs are struggling
I fear that schwarbers defense in left field is hurting us.
I saw Addison russell make a catch almost in the outfield where schwarber shoulda been.
I think most of know Kyle doesn't have range. Most right handed hitters are driving to left field, we have been easy to hit.

That on top of his offense I think he is in a tough spot and so are the cubs for playing him.
He didn't play defense at all last year.
I think switching him out somehow could bolster the defense. Easier said than done.
We all want Kyle to play but his play is hurting the team.
Contreras is too good to bench for Kyle but its a way to get Kyle in the lineup.
Idk if Wilson can play another position.

Are you trying to suggest that Schwarber should catch? Schwarber can't catch. Schwarber can't play LF. Schawarber is a DH. Schwarber should have been traded in the off-season to an AL team for pitching. Schwarber's hitting will improve. He's a worse fielding Adam Dunn. Schwarber is a career .213/.329/.426 hitter. He should end up hitting around .240/340/.450 this season. The problem is that while that is a slight plus for a bat his defense drains all the value that his bat has.

This team just gets more frustrating by the day. How many good chances to score did they blow today? Guys on 2nd or 3rd with 0 or 1 outs and they couldn't get them in. To lose 2-1 on a day when they had so many chances and the pitching finally delivered is just painful. I never thought they would be under .500 on June 1st.
