2 LAL Lonzo Ball
3 PHI Josh Jackson
4 PHO Jayson Tatum
5 SAC De'Aaron Fox
6 ORL Dennis Smith
7 MIN Jonathan Isaac
8 NYK Frank Ntilikina
9 DAL
10 SAC

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I voted other as if these are the options, I'd just assume trade the pick for more quantity of picks

Monk is talented no doubt, but I know many have hoped and said the same for Jarryd Bayless, Randy Foye, leo Barbosa, Eric Gordon, etc. Not really all that teachable imo

I would go with Monk as well. Dallas needs to draft BPA and Monk is far and above the most talented of what's left on the board

Please don't let this be the outcome, let a PG fall to us for gods sake.

Collins at #9 and trade down. I figure some team will target him, and with the possibility of Sacramento taking him at #10, we can pick up some value.

I don't endorse trading down just to get more picks or to save money. But the Mavs have a history of preference towards guys with more college experience, and none of the guys left are really "blue chip" freshmen. And if anyone is, it's Collins.

Monk is the obvious choice but certainly not my preference.
Curry would most likely be moved if we draft Monk.

I honestly think this draft order has a pretty good chance of happening and is probably a worse case scenario for the Mavs.
If the choice comes down to Monk, Markkanen or Collins I can see Donnie and Mark choosing Markkanen which would be devastating to our rebuilding efforts.

Agreed with the above. Monk is basically the worse-case of those to fall, as we already have someone that can fill his prime role (microwave scorer off the bench) in Seth Curry. If this happens, I would still take Monk and deal with the aftermath later. I could see Dallas taking Lauri in this scenario as well. Let's hope this is not the case.

Markannen is getting picked earlier he wont fall to us but if he does I am cool with that. Monk is undersized at SG, if you ask me.

unless he can play point. Markannen is instant offense so we do well right out of the gate with him. Defense will be his main problem area and Dirk was the same way in some sense but I think Dirk can mentor him to develop that side of his game. With Noel here he helps.

Diallo wouldn't make any sense after just taking Monk. Might as well keep Curry if we are going to do that.
If we are getting a 2nd pick it should be a big....preferably a PF to eventually replace Dirk.

I will be anxiously hoping to hear the names Markkanen, Monk or Collins before we pick....hopefully all three. That guarantees one of Isaac, Smith, or Ntilikina (or someone projected to go higher) will be there when we pick.

The perfect draft for me would be getting one of Smith, Isaac, or Ntilikina with #9 and then getting a late first to draft Diallo.

Curious, what about Diallo fascinates you so much? I know the athleticism is there, but same was said for Gerald Green and others. The knock on his handles and shot are pretty substantial considering he's a SG.

I'm with you on trading for a late pick, but I'd use it on a PF like Giles, Rabb, or Lydon.

Youth and athleticism are arguably the 2 things this team lacks more than anything. I have faith that Carlisle can coach him up and turn him into a Ron Artest/Richard Hamilton type player best case scenario.

Those are lofty expectations for someone who shot 11/55 in whatever game sit was the past spring/summer. Rick Carlisle is a good coach, but no magician. I'm all for getting youth and giving them a try, but wouldn't expect much for Diallo all things considering.
