I knew Doctor MJ would grab Stockton to pair with LeBron. Great pairing. I really thought about grabbing him, but a defensive stopper is so important to have with the perimeter talent on all of the team. Preferably a stopper who isn't an albatross offensively. Moncrief was too perfect to pass up, he checked all the boxes, but Stockton was one of the three players I was considering.

I was debating between Stockton and Ginobili, but I was satisfied that I got Manu. I actually debated grabbing Manu for my 2nd pick, but I figured I needed more firepower to pair with Russell than Manu as my #2.

Be happy, Manu was the other guy I was contemplating

Yeah go. We haven't shifted to the policy of 2 hour clock with it being turned off because we haven't gotten enough input on it yet.

Lol, nice catch, I haven't realized that as I'm as much away from "ringzzz" argument, as possible

I thought a lot about taking Curry as my first pick. The problem for me was I thought he'd be too polarizing. People are far more familiar with his flaws and tend to blow them out of proportion since they know him better. Even if Bord has similar issues, they tend to be glossed over with time.
Obviously Green is even more polarizing than Curry. The hint is though I don't think anyone really argues anymore that he doesn't have best in the world impact, I think they just argue he wouldn't be able to do it without being surrounded by all time talent. Fortunately on this team he will be surrounded by all time talent. So I'm hoping I can keep people honest here and people can project how great he'd be on a team like this.
I also love the fit between he and Bird both basketball-ly and culturally. There was a fantastic Arnovitz article about the Warriors culture recently and how Dray is the biggest part of it that was really great.
Yeah, there's going to be some meta-gaming here about guys who are polarizing (like Wilt, Curry like you said, maybe LeBron to an extent), and then there are just surefire no doubters like MJ/Hakeem/Shaq that will obliterate the guy on the other team almost no matter what.
Doc's pick surprises me because of the stuff he's said about LeBron's ceiling - which tons of people have argued against with for some time now. I guess he finally believes that building a souped up '09/'13/'17 cast around him is going to work.
What's also amazing to me is how ardee's picked: he's probably THE Kobe guy on the boards, and yet in a team-building environment he goes for guys like Walton and Nash. Sure he did contemplate taking Kobe, and the picks are also a function of who's available at the time - but it's refreshing to see.
I'd love to judge these teams because I get to make two decisions: 1) Who I thought argued their case for winning better, and 2) Who I think would actually win. There's possibly teams you think should win given some optimal strategy you have in mind, but that shouldn't influence your decision because ultimately it's up to the combatants and how they put forth their positions for winning.

I've edited ardee's OP, adding all the picks that have been made so far, and removed the spoiler so that the picks are visible right away.
Damn, Narigo now has BOTH Malones and Magic Johnson?
Have some mercy, man. That's basically three MVPs/top 20 all-timers, I doubt anybody else will have that much talent with their first three picks (I think LA Bird comes closest, with Garnett/West/Howard).
It's hard to believe that Moses fell to the third round, behind guys like Draymond Green, Reggie Miller and Bobby Jones. I know those guys have a very valuable skill-set, but if I had a chance to pick Moses or any of them, I would take Malone in a heartbeat, I just think the talent gap is too big to justify taking any of those players over Mo.

I'm actually surprised Moses was drafted over a guy who IMO was clearly better at his peak. Both these guys went totally undrafted last time we did this though. FGA/impact ratio just makes them not that valuable here, and of course Moses has issues defensively which are a killer in a leaguenlike this.

I wanted Moses on my team but Kareem is too good to pass up. It's incredible that he's 3rd rounder here. He's so portable offensively because he's not ball dominant and you can't take away his off. rebounding.

So happy Pierce fell to me. Hard for me to take two Celtics in my top 3 but they just fit so well with the team I'm trying to build. Manu was my top choice for that pick but it'd be unreasonable to expect him to fall that low. Pierce gives me everything I need to compliment Walton and Nash, someone who can shoot, defend, create his own shot, and keep the ball moving.
Not as much raw talent as some of the other 3 man cores so far but I do believe my 3 has the best fit.

Moses is gonna be penalized for his defense. I picked Moses in the second round in very first draft game I played here back in 2014, and it hurt me in the playoffs.

Funny Hill went right after. I was considering him as well with Pierce, but the Truth's shooting swayed me.

I also had Hill/Pierce/Ginobili at the top of my big board, but I ended up going Ginobili for this low FGA and great playoff in 2005.
Hill is a great pickup with todays spacing.

Pierce and Hill are two of my favorite players of all-time, I hate you guys for taking them right before I would have a chance to do so. Especially Pierce.

I think people nitpick too much, at times. When you bring as many positives on such a high level as Moses, it totally outweighs his questionable defense. Well, in 1983 his defense was pretty good, so it's not even a problem.
