let's say that list is true. sixers must think tatum has upside as a defender. i feel like he moves too stiff, not that athletic and he plays below the rim. not a good look

Current #Sixers' big board:
1. Tatum
2. Smith
3. Monk
4. Isaac
5. Jackson

Don't mind that board aside from Monk.

That's his big board. He's been pumping up Tatum for weeks.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Seeing a ton of people praising Tatums shot and saying how it's projects to be one of the best in the class.

I love it because short term there are going to be growing pains and lots of ups and downs for Ball. And I think a lot of players are going to go extra hard at him because of all the media attention he has received. Which fit perfectly into the 76ers plans.
Long term we will have no control over which team takes Ball so the 76ers better not mess up on who they select in this draft.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

A Ball / DLO defensive backcourt will be a beautiful thing (for us)

Tatum is a Duke player so he's undraftable, unless paired with Lebron...

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball / '17 NBA Draft Thread III
Tatum is 6'8 with long arms.
He has a beautiful shot, that projects to improve in the NBA.
He is a willing defender. Gets steals/blocks with his length.
He rebounds the ball. (Over 7 per game)
He has an advanced arsenal of 1-1 scoring moves that only elite scorers possess at a young age. Elite isolation scorer.
He's an elite free throw shooter.
Outside of elite, freak explosive athleticism....there isn't much to not like about Tatum.

Tatum physically reminds me of a less explosive Thaddeus Young with more perimeter scoring ability which leads me to believe that he'll play power forward or mascarade around as a poor man's Melo at SF. That's the positive outlook.

Unfortunately we can't give Tatum Jackson's athleticism or vice versa...maybe if they had two first round picks.
Not to be contrary, but I see nothing of that young in Tatum. Battier is the comp that keeps so ming to mind.

I think we keep forgetting that we dont need an Alpha out of this draft. Embiid IS the Alpha on this team. We just need a kid who is going to be able to play 3rd fiddle (behind Simmons).
Tatum's lack of athleticism does concern me but we will have Embiid back there to help clean up on the defensive end. But like I said in another post, im not too enthralled with any of the kids in this class. Starting to remind me of 13's class, except it seems that these guys will have long careers in the league

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball / '17 NBA Draft Thread III
I'm a believer that Tatum can play the 3....but even if he had to transition to a stretch 4 role, would that be a bad thing considering we're often linked to needing one?
I mean, as a stretch 4 that could be somewhere between a Melo/Antwan Jamison....that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to pair with Embiid and Simmons.

I can't agree. We still haven't seen Embiid play half a season and we haven't seen Simmons at all. I want the best possible player, so if we can't build a winner with Embiid, then maybe we can build around Simmons and (whoever). Or if Simmons isn't any good, we can build around Embiid and (whoever). We aren't set. We aren't at the point that we can let superior talent go by, trying to fit players with Simmons or Embiid.

i want an alpha in the backcourt. someone you can give the ball to in crunch time at the top of the key. you can't rely on embiid in every situation.

Yeah but there isn't a guy like that in this draft. Theyll be in next draft
