Those 7 add up to 129. We would end up a solid 15 million over the lux tax line with that team. No money to pay Bradley, Smart or Crowder.

Ain't no way known IT gets 28mil from us. No way.

Try to sign Hayward. If he says no and goes back to Utah, then:

Crowder, Rozier, Zeller, S&T Johnson and a 1st for Carmelo Anthony & Kyle O'Quinn

Na.

Move on to Blake Griffin or Danilo Gallinari.

Or, take that money and use it to extend our own guys.

Really, let's drop the notion that the Cs have any interest in Carmelo Anthony. This is a fantasy created in NY by Knicks fans. And the idea that we would give up anything decent or even a no. 1 pic for Anthony's untradeable contract suggests someone thinks Danny Ainge has been taking Billy King pills.

If the celtics strike out on Hayward I'd try to get Melo. Don' think he would cost a ton (asset wise) adds a much needed scoring option and is in a contract year (I think he opts out after 2018)

I am not so sure. Melo's contract is bad but it's only 2 years and if the plan is to build around Jaylen, Fultz, 2018 Brooklyn pick and we strike out in FA this year - I could see him being a short term target. I still wonder how the best US Olympic player ever could be so bad in NY. Maybe in Brad's offense he could be the guy he was for coach K. After watching Kevin Love destroy us and watching JR Smith and DWill thrive in a pace and space offense, it isn't unfathomable that Melo could as well.

If you could sign and trade KO, give up picks we definitely don't want or need (our 2018 pick, 3 second rounders this year) and one of our guards - Rozier perhaps along with fuller (Amir, JJ, Zeller) just to have a team that can light it up while rebuilding would it be worth it? Probably is a sideways move unless Melo has a rebirth as a player but if we strike out with FA it's a fall back plan worth thinking about.

We've seen Brad do wonders for less talented guys like Crawford, ET, JJ and Phoenix IT as well.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I'm not opposed to Melo the player, I'm more opposed to Melo the contract.

What's going to be the fallout from the loser of the finals? How does Cleveland/Golden State respond from a disappointing loss? How can we capitalize?

Sign Hayward.

Trade Crowder + Zeller for Valanciunas.

so now that we have the #1... manuvering enough cap space to sign a max guy at 30.3 million is tremendously difficult. let Olynyk go, release rights to all FAs, stashing Zizic and Yabasule again, releasing Micky and trading Rozier for future pick gets us to 30.1 or so. I assume if a guy wants to come here that couple hundred grand that probably translates to a million or so over the life of the contract is not a big issue.

problem is I don't want to stash Zizic again...so would hayward or griffin sign with us at a deal starting closer to 29 million per year? If not then we have to trade away a piece of the core (Crowder, Bradley, Brown, Smart, IT, Horford, #1 pick) for less 2017-2018 salary to get that cap space...

We have to renounce Zeller & most other free agents in order to sign Hayward. Also, Valanciunas would not be my first option, especially in the system Brad wants to implement with spreading the floor. We're already going to have Zizic in the paint next year. We need a mobile PF who can knock down open jumpers, IMO.

Val wasn't even playable vs the Cavs. Pass.

Bobby Marks has officially lost it. He thinks Zeller + Crowder + Rozier + MEM pick can get you Paul George. (around 2:30 mark) ZELLER ALONE CAN GET YOU ANTHONY DAVIS! Why settle for PG?!
