True, I liked Cornelie last year.

Ha. Me too. Hope we hire a guy that can make the right call.

Big difference in risk in Cornelie at #53 and Jeanne at #17 (especially considering that we sold #38). Of course Jeanne has better length and athleticism to put him in the lotto picture I'm just saying Cornelie was always ranked as a second rounder, and I liked him too so crap lol

To be fair, I don't think anyone saw Cornelie's shooting to drop off a cliff like it did. The difference between him and Jeanne, however, is that Cornelie actually had a track record of shooting. Jeanne doesn't. Poor shooting from the stripe and poor numbers from behind the arc, his shooting feels completely overstated.
If you're taking Jeanne at 17, you need to be confident in his defensive abilities over all else.
you are drafting him pretty much on length, feet and agility, hoping that you can mold him into something useful. I was just saying that taking a flier on a Cornelie with our second pick in the second round last year and him busting would've been pretty easy to deal with compared to Thon busting.Defensively, Jeanne doesn't really know what he's doing, but was extremely effective nevertheless by virtue of his mobility and freakish reach, changing everything around the basket in rim-protection situations, and being impossible to shoot over in the post. He struggles to hold his ground at times versus older players, and posted a sky high ten fouls in 47 minutes of total action, something that will likely always be an issue until his frame continues to fill out. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/nba-combine-competitive-action-recap-day-two-5929/ ©DraftExpress

I wish we could trade up for him but the only pieces that'd do it are the pieces I have no interest in trading.
I'm hoping he falls just within enough reach of trading 17 and a future 1st to move up. Definitely not gonna happen, but crazier things have happened.
I'd def give up another 1st for him. Problem is he's the type of talent who you get him in a gym for individual workouts and he could put on an absolute show. Like a lesser version of the "oh ****" moment when teams saw Porzingis work out. He might slip a bit but some team is going to fall in love with his skill set and it'll be extremely tough to convince them to trade him away.

I must be missing something - Who is Jason Smith?

My concern with him, looking solely at the scouting reports, he doesn't seem to be improving like you would be expecting for a 20 year old (still really young, but that is where you want to see more development)...It's the same concern I have with Rabb. If Kobi went back to school, I feel like you'd find more holes than we already know about.
