lol, not surprising at all. This board and the other site (ND) invested a whole lot of time in Diallo for nothing.NyCeEvO wrote:
According to Jonathan Givony, Diallo got back a lot of negative feedback...so yeah lol.
Also, it looks like there a ton of raw bigs between 11 and 40 so it's really a crapshoot.
As I said earlier, this draft is deep in prospects but no sure fire stars. A lot of people are going to be underwhelmed 4-5 years from now when teams are deciding whether to give extensions to these players.

Right...there's nothing wrong with due diligence if it doesn't cost anything but time.

Swanigan, Hartenstein, Wilson could develop into stretch fives. Wilson is a PF that could slide down to C in a small ball lineup.
Damn. If he can develop a 3 this guy will be a beast. He could be a better version of Al Horford.
Hey now, don't shortchange Horford's skillset. He was a monster at Florida and was deserving of being the 3rd overall pick back in 07. It's not easy to become what Al is.
I guess you are right. Bam will most likely never going to be as good of a defender as Al. I do think his footwork, basketball instincts, body frame, strength, explosiveness, and Athleticism are all tools that translate really well in the NBA. If you add in a jumper with that I would think he would be atleast a 15 PPG player in his career. He does have the tools to be a great defensive player. It's just the matter if him being able to have motor.

join me on the bandwagon brother. I've been hyping Swanigan here.
The guy was only 19 when he did what he did at Purdue. He literally just turned 20 last month. Extremely skilled, good IQ, and only 3-4 years away from being 380 lbs.
Give him a dedicated trainer to focus on agility and explosiveness and I bet he becomes a legit 4 in the NBA.
Haven't seen any combine numbers for him as far as those are concerned and I haven't seen any workout videos other than him shooting but his interview with pacers his face looks a lot thinner.

DeRoma, what makes you think Bam will not be as good a defender as Horford?
From what I've seen Bam has great defensive instincts

Well, you can't call Joe a salary dump. A salary dump is when you want to get rid of a bad contract and a player not delivering a meaningful on-court value. The Hawks did receive cap relief in that deal, but they also gave up an all-star level player. Give me an all-star level player and I'm literally taking any "salary dump", regardless of the pick we receive, if any at all.

I think it has less to do with the body fat itself but more than it's already a sign of a lack of work ethic and maturity when you show up at the Combine in not your best possible shape despite knowing that your career is on the line.

(And Marks said we need a #3...sigh)
My guess is that scouts simply aren't convinced Tatum's scoring, which was elite in college, will be elite at the professional level.

Yes, the moves that he uses in college won't be as effective in the NBA but I don't see why he can't adapt like all of the other top picks are expected to.
I just don't get it. I wonder where he ranks on Markinson's big board.

It's a fair point, but you have to remember that these guys are still kids so of course they're going to show some immaturity, it doesn't fully show whether they have a good work ethic or not. I'm sure that in most cases once they reach a work environment and are surrounded by professionals then they have a change of mindset.

Not really sure its comparable. Swanigan hasn't had weight problems in awhile. He turned his body around and turned the fat into muscle weight, but he's only done training focused on being explosive for 1 year (well, two years if you include this off-season heading into next season which is his rookie year).
This is why I'm more bullish on him than other guys. I think a lot of his effort since then was to lose weight and changing fat into muscle mass. After his freshman year, he tested the NBA draft and got feedback that he needed to be explosive. That was when he focused his off-season workout into getting more athletic. He also got feedback that he needed to improve his outside shot.
He did both and came back with one of the better big-man seasons in recent years...as a 19 year old sophomore.

it was certainly a salary dump. it was the worst contract in the league by far... and in fact we havent seen a worse contract since.

Am I the only one that isn't huge on Bam? Could easily make it as a role player off the bench but I don't think we're in a position to be drafting someone with a ceiling as low as his
