We need to find ways to keep Melky in Centerfield more often now that Damon is getting healthier. Damon had some VERY nice catches in LF yesterday giving Joe yet another scenario when juggling all these players. Our best Defenive outfield would consist of Melky in Center and Damon at one of the corners. Abreu sucks in the field but has an arm. Matsui is also a below average fielder as well. Damon has no arm but when healthy can track down a ball or two. When Damon plays LF, Melky stays in CF which is extremely important defensively. Matsui has shown that when he DH's he is still as dangerous a hitter as when hes playing the field. Joe can now rotate Matsui, Damon, and Shelley at the DH depending on the opponent.
My main point of this thread is that Melky NEEDS to be the every day centerfielder. By putting Damon in LF it keeps Melky in the game and increases our overall defense in the outfield.

This is why I wouldnt put him in RF even though he could cover the area much better than Abreu. BUt you have to admit that our defense is much better with Melky in CF
