This was mentioned in the draft thread. The 12th pick in combination with moving some current player(s) could be a good result if it brings in a solid vet and cleans up a logjam. Hard to say what might happen. I'm glad they're looking at all options.

The only way the 12th pick should be moved is in a trade for:

A. An earlier pick
B. A all star in his prime

The hook has been baited, the line has been cast...now we wait

Ain't it funny how the standard "we're willing to trade our pick" quote can grow!

Every team is looking to make moves to improve & we're no different - that's a positive.

As for the idea that you shouldn't wanna make the playoffs cause Lebron is gonna cut you in half is weak to me.

Assuming Cavs finish as #1 seed & Celtics #2 then finishing 7th is fine since you'd avoid Lebron until the ECF.

Anyone prefer a ECF loss than the late lottery?

You're unlikely to Draft a All Star at #12 dude

And also unlikely to move up in this Draft without attaching another asset

Dre - Bobo
Jon - Henry
Mook - SJ
KCP
RJ - Ish

#12 & Harris could get us something significant but I'd hate to see Harris go after the season he had

DET receives: PG Eric Bledsoe

PHO receives: SG Aaron Afflalo
SF Stanley Johnson
DET 1st Rd pick (12th overall)

SAC receives: PG Reggie Jackson

Detroit gets their starting PG that can impact the game on both ends. Phoenix saves 10+ mill by getting rid of Afflalo's contract and they add two new pieces to their young core. Sacramento gets a starting caliber PG out of a player that they were going to probably get rid of anyway.

No way in hell I'm trading SJ, RJ and the 12th pick for Bledsoe. That makes us worse and Bledsoe IS NOT A PG. He is just short for a SG. I don't want to trade SJ at all! He needs to start. I still don't understand how SVG can't see the strengths in SJ's game. He is a Point Forward who is great in the pick n roll. The Pistons need to play faster! He has too much upside to give up on.

RJ is not the answer at PG and I don't think SJ is going to ever develop into the catch-and-shoot wing that we need for our offense to work. Eric Bledsoe averaged 21pts, 5rebs, and 6 assts a game this year. He also shot 48% from inside the arc where he does most of his damage. IMO, if we're going to compete with CLE then we're going to need players that can attack their Big 3 on both ends of the floor.

I would do it for Bledsoe for sure

Yes, please let us get Bledsoe. It hurt seeing Rubio starting to break out after the all-star break when he got a couple trip doubles and we couldn't trade for him.

Bledsoe and KCP in the backcourt could be pretty good. Assuming KCP stays, which is a if.

If we could get some consistent shooting around a Bledsoe/Drummond pick and roll, our offense could be something special.

I think trading the pick for a guy in his prime is a good idea IF it's the right player. Bledsoe is not that guy though, not sure who could be available.

"Win-now" that's cute... win what now though? I guess we're gonna need one more year of ping pong balls for the FO to finally get it.

I keep seeing Eric Bledsoe's name and that dude is fool's gold. Y'all need to look at his career stats and take a gander at the "games played" column. If he tears his meniscus again (which he's already done twice) Phoenix won't be able to give Bledsoe away. Of course, Phoenix shut him down late in the season for "knee soreness" :noway: . The Suns got 66 games out of him this season with career highs across the board, now it's time to sell high for assets to some unsuspecting team. Eric is stupid talented, but it's a no for me especially if #12 and SJ are involved.

Unless I'm totally underestimating what teams will give up for a pick at that level I'll be so depressed if this happens.

Your blind optimism is sweet.

If you're the seventh seed, you'd run into LeBron in the first round this year. Also, if you're the seventh seed, you aren't worried about who you will face in the ECF, you're not even making it out of the first round.

But, I think you've done a good job of conveying Van Gundy's mindset, which is completely out of touch with reality here.
