This is not a deep draft, I could see him actually netting that Detroit pick. Huge talent drop-off after the Top 9.

Thanks for starting this thread. My first thought was also Clarkson for the Det pick. That would be an absolute home run of a deal if Magic and Pelinka could pull it off.

Probably the easiest way to ensure additional cap next summer while not having to pay a premium to get out of Deng/Moz deals.

As far as the 12 for Clarkson deal, I don't think he has that value, so if they asked for the 28th pick that's something you have to do without hesitation.

Not surprising. You want to maximize playing time for Ball and Russell in this case. Not to mention Clarkson doesn't fit at all what Walton wants to run.

Clarkson + 28th pick for the 12th pick. Who says no? (apart from DET) :)

And at 12, all there really will be is two project centers worth selecting in Anigbogu or Allen. At that point, it might as well be a three team trade where we are attaching the #12 pick with someone for shedding another contract or packaging with another prospect for a star.

Yup, even if it isn't a simultaneous three team trade, a lot easier to attach a cheap #12 pick to one of the bad contracts than expecting a team to take on a bad contract and Clarkson's salary with it.

adios! 10mm for no defense and tunnel vision
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

I'm a fan of Clarkson and hope he does well elsewhere. I hope we get a pick and dump salary for 2 Max guys next year or.... look into jonathan simmons this summer.

I've been thinking that JC would Stay and Dlo would be traded. I guess management wants to see the combo of Dlo/Ball?

At least we aren't trading JC for Injury Prone Okafor < what would happen if we did and then he gets injured and barely plays? that wa the Q .. But that's for another thread.

I've said this for months and nearly every San Antonio fan I've talked to is all for it.

Clarkson, 28 for Danny Green.

Clarkson has good value especially to a playoff team that needs depth and bench help at guard position. Clarkson averaged almost 15/3/2.6 apg plus 1.1 steals and his salary is not over the top ($37.5m/3yrs). This looks like a trade for Detroit or Sacramento or even Portland if they can shed some salary.

As for his role with the Lakers, he will be missed, if traded, but is not considered one of the core guys for the Lakers. The freed up salary and adding assets/picks will do us good.

Clarkson and fillers to Detroit is the most logical option.

You're right, we don't need a player who can shoot the three & play D.

Did you watch the Lakers last season?

Danny green is a player to look to acquire after your core is set. He's 30, so he's not really a piece that a long term core piece. Lakers should really be focusing on making moves to be in a position to attract top level free agents if they're going to be moving assets like Clarkson. Green is a nice Player, but not the right time for him for where the lakers are at in their rebuild.
