The closer things get, the more I can't see Jackson being the pick at 3. He's not dominant in other areas to overlook th FT issue. Can you have a wing shoot that poorly? What separates he and Roberson? Wasn't Roberson a late first?

Paxon has certain check boxes on the type of players he drafts every year. The biggest being that he takes players from big winning programs. I could see him trading Butler for #1 and Crowder. Then taking Jackson or Ball, my 1a and 1b.
Fultz being the top prospect on the board at #3 would be my least favorite of the three outcomes.
That's when the conversation would start for me, in terms of trade downs and considering ancillary prospects.

I agree.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Andre Roberson averaged 9.6 points per game in his three year career at Colorado. He shot 22% and 31%, respectively, on mid-range jumpshots as a sophomore and junior.
I think you're underrating Jackson as a scorer and (IMO) wildly overstating his shooting woes.

Roberson and Josh Jackson both had TOV% above 15% and shot FTs under 60%, they are similar although Jackson is clearly more talented, but probably not by as much as his hype suggests. Jackson got his numbers against college PFs and Cs, feasting on those guys that have like zero chance of going to the NBA.

Possibly, but I'm amazed that people minimize his FT issue and how important this is in the nba. He doesn't dominate games in a manner where this can be overlooked. I'm not against him as an optiom, but he's definitely grouped in the 3-10 tier and not the 1-2 range. If Boston takes him it is a huge coup for the Sixers.

Josh Jackson needs to work more with a sports psychologist than he does a shooting coach, in my opinion. He's emotionally immature and lacks situational focus. However, I think concerns with his ability to hit jumpshots are being exaggerated. His jumper isn't exactly money, but it's nowhere near Justise Winslow or Andre Roberson level of bad. And he's an substantially better scorer than both of those players.

Don't get me wrong, I think concerns about Jackson's ability to be on the floor late in games are definitely valid. He needs mental, emotional and concentration growth.

Where does De'Aaron Fox land in your rankings?

I'll speak out of turn, but I have Fox ahead of Jackson. He is one of the more impressive prospects in the draft. He needs work as well, but there are less questions about his total package (including character ) than with Jackson.

I'm in the minority with Fox. His stock is up in the eyes of most, but I've found myself going the opposite direction on him. I'm not completely sold on his defense or distributing. His jumpshot will take time. His body will take time. Penetrating scoring guards aren't my favorite player archetype.
As of right now, he's not on the list of guys I'd want.

Among prospects, FT% in the NCAA is significantly lower than in the NBA. A lot of guys who are clearly good NBA shooters have head-scratching bad NCAA %s: to give a few random examples, there's Deron Williams (67%), Derozan (65%), Kidd (66%), etc--and Fultz also shot 65% this year.
Not saying that Jackson's FT shooting is no problem but it's easy to blow out of proportion. Definitely not the death sentence it might seem like.

I agree, but if Jackson was hitting in the mid 60s, I'd be fine with it. He's hitting just over half of his free throws. That's a problem. We're talking non shooting centers in the NBA bad.

Isn't Jackson in the 50% range? He's also not at the same level prospect as Williams or Kidd in terms of overall game (or even Fultz). Shaq shooting 50% from the line is one thing, a wing with other questions that shoots in the same range is an entirely different story.

Honestly the more I think about this, the more I am pretty much in my mind saying "As long as Fultz/Ball/Jackson/Tatum/Fox/DSJ/Monk/Isaac is the pick at 3, i think we are good."
Like, with all the future assets available, plus cap space, and the current SimBiid/Saric/TLC/Korkmaz.... the future is bright regardless. This pick does not need to be a stone cold lead pipe lock to be a star player in order for this team to become a competitive franchise.
I am even prepared to see the pick traded. This is such an exciting time.

I agree.
Fultz still being on the board at 3 would be the best possible scenario for the Sixers. But it's not going to happen.

Does anyone else agree with me with the prediction that DSJ will become a bigger star than Fultz? (health aside)

It's possible. I think you can make a case for 10 players who could be ones the best player. It all comes down to development and dedication. We shall see.
