Sweet Sixteen Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Sat Jun 3, 2017 11:05 am

Draft Rules:

1. Every player from the 1979-80 through the 2016-17 season is available. Players must have played in at least 60 games in the season selected and should be judged based on their average performance in the games played.

2. The sixteen strongest franchises have been identified and listed for each round in random order. Each selection you make must match the franchise designated for that pick in that the player played in at least one regular season or playoff game for that franchise. The franchise designations for each pick are shown below. You may use any season for that player, it doesn't have to be one in which he played for that franchise. The only exception to this is the MVP selection described in #3.

3. You may only draft one player who ever won a regular season MVP award. Also, when drafting your lone MVP, you do not have to match the franchise designated for that pick. This "wild card" MVP selection can be made in any round.

4. The winner of the draft will be decided by a playoff or ranking system to be determined, based on the number of sign ups, etc.

5. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. All eight players will be required to play 8 minutes in your game rotations.

5. You do not need to specify a player's season until the end of the draft.

6. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

7. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

9. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, you can and should be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. A player missing picks or causing consistent delays can be skipped early or replaced at the discretion of the commish.

9. The clock starts Sunday, June 4 and will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

10. Draft order will be completely randomized.

11. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you as a courtesy so they will know that it is their turn. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. The next person's clock starts immediately after the prior pick, not when they are quoted.

Team Roster Page Rules:

1. You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players with seasons selected
. Rotations. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes.
. A write-up of how your team will excel
. You must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 90.0 FGA

I'll save my MVP and instead go with someone with an MVP level impact. Give me Draymond Green

Can't see any benefit in holding off at this point given the way my franchises are mapped out.

No great options available on the Mavs, so I'll grab a guy I'm a little surprised is here.

Magic Johnson

Debating between two extremes with low FGAs or high FAs with this one since Grant Hill is gone.

Shrug.

There are no options I love here in terms of future flexibility, which to my mind is the only real reason to wait on my MVP given the relative lack of blue chip non-MVPs available to me at this spot. Lets go Tim Duncan and see what becomes of everything else.

With the 16th pick and 17th pick in the Sweet Sixteen Draft, ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
Patrick Ewing-C-Seattle SuperSonics

Image

Tracy McGrady-SG/SF-Orlando Magic

Image

This might backfire but I really like the fit. I'm taking Patrick Ewing and Tracy McGrady! I got my defensive anchor in Ewing and offensive machine in T-Mac. Great balance in my opinion. The FGA situation may get a little tricky but I will figure it out. I also have my MVP exception to use in my back pocket. Lets do this!
