Well what a month it has been! Congrats to both Carlos and Lance.

http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-Carlos-Correa-Lance-McCullers-AL-month-11191721.php

The best team in baseball now can say it has the hottest hitter and pitcher. On Friday, Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and starter Lance McCullers were honored as the AL hitter and pitcher for the month of May.

This is the first time the Astros have had the player of the month and pitcher of the month at the same time. The last time it happened in the American League was with Boston's David Ortiz and Jon Lester in 2010.

In 26 games, Correa hit .386, with eight doubles, seven homers, 26 runs batted in and a 1.130 OPS for the month. He led the league in batting average and RBI, and he was third in on-base percentage and tied for sixth in slugging percentage. He had multiple hits in 14 of his 26 games, including five consecutive games from May 25-29, which came after being out sick for two games against the Tigers.

McCullers went 4-0 with a 0.99 ERA in May. He had 37 strikeouts in 36.1 innings and had a .164 opponent batting average. He threw 22 consecutive scoreless innings (25 1/3 without an earned run) from May 6-23, which was the longest streak by an Astros pitcher since Roy Oswalt had 32 scoreless innings in 2008.

:o

The last Astros pitcher to go at least four games with no earned runs and at least 5.0 innings pitched was Nolan Ryan in 1984.

8-)

Correa, as usual, adhered to humility and deferred praise to the deep lineup he cleans up. The Astros went 22-7 in May and outscored opponents by 67 runs.

"One through nine, bro," Correa said.

Four players in MLB history have had 10 or more lead-off home runs in a season.

So far Springer has 6.

Cool stat, and one that seems pretty damn reachable at this rate. Would love to see it!

What's the record, 13? That also seems breakable.

OT: KC has such a beautiful park. I love the waterfall walls in the outfield. Always have.

That's a park I would very much love to visit someday.

Welp, last night was a bummer the way they let it slip away.

Dallas and Lance the next two games, time to start a new streak!

13 games ahead of the LA Angels already. This could potentially be Astros' greatest season of all-time.

Most fun team to watch since '98, though the 2004/2005 runs were amazing as well. If your favorite traitor had signed here instead of with the Mets I still believe we win that WS!

Alas, 'twas not to be.

These last two games can obviously be blamed on Evil Butters though...right?

Congratulations to Mr. Aoki for his 2000th professional hit! Cool to see it happen in an Astros uniform.

On a sad note, our pitching is really struggling now with all the injuries to the starting rotation. Of course, that just happens to coincide with Evil Butters making a thread about how great the Astros are, so we all know who to blame!

;)

Seriously though, we really need Dallas/Morton/Musgrove/McHugh to get healthy and back into that rotation ASAP before our bullpen completely implodes.

Or a trade for another TOR starter...that would be cool too.

Ugh...such a promising inning turns to crap.

Don't even say it, TMU...he hit it hard just right at Gallo, dead gum it!
