who would you want there at 5? I assume Josh Jackson?

With that assumption, would you trade #10 for Eric Bledsoe? Particularly if all the point guards were gone?

You'd have to feel pretty good coming out of this draft with Jackson and Bledsoe.

It tempting. We'd have to wait till pick 9 has been made to see who is there like you said and then we'd also consider moving up to get a PG either before the 5th or after.

Bledsoe is a great player and an asset but he is also 27 with only 2 yrs left on his deal when our core is 22 on avg. He would be a stop gap basically hat wouldn't be guaranteed to be around when he would benefit us the most. We'd need more than just Bledsoe like the 2018 Heat 1st or something along those lines as well to give up the 10th.

I read that Caleb Swanigan is coming in for a workout. Seems like they are getting some decent workout participants this year after all. Good to see. I've seen some mocks having him go around the Kings 2nd rounder. I wouldn't mind seeing the Kings take him if so. He'd be a steal that late.

This is the same caliber of player we had last year.

Donovan Mitchell and Harry Giles will visit the Kings as well. Good to see things change. I'd 100% take Jordan Bell at 34 if he's there. Bell is such a stud I'm afraid he wont make it to 34. I'd love to package 34 and Koufos to move up to draft him. Other guys I like at 34 in order Monte Morris, Kuzma, Swanigan, and Oliver. Swanigan's quickness and Oliver's motor are concerning to me.

A friend posed this question to me.

Would you rather have Fox
a bad contract (player acquired in trade up)
and the Heat's 2018 1st rd pick

or

DJ Smith
and OG Anunoby

Not sure what you guys are thinking is a change by getting Swanigan to workout. This is the same caliber of guy that worked out last year.

Donovan Mitchell and Harry Giles are mid 1st rd prospects but we interview plenty of those at the combine last year as well. Just want to keep things in prospective.

So Jackson, Tatum, Isaac, and DSJ are on the board at 5?

I would look to trade down using the assets gained by trading down at 5, to move up from 10.

Kings trade
5
10

Kings receive
7 (DSJ)
8 (Isaac)

Wolves trade
7
Rubio

Wolves receive
5 (Jackson)

Knicks trade
8

Knicks receive
10
Rubio

Kings get their PG and SF. Knicks get a PG and pick of the litter for a big at 10. Wolves get their wing.

I wasn't excited Kings "landed" a workout with Swanigan. Mitchell and Giles, yes.

As for last year only top 20 player to workout for Sac was Baldwin (I think). This year is very different.

I don't think our front office is smart enough to do this, but if the Fox rumors (5+10 for him and all) are all a smokescreen to get someone else it's one of the best I've seen in a while.

We were discussing hypothetically trading up with the Suns. No real specifics discussed besides the Heats 1st. I was just thinking about how much Fox is worth? Not sure why they are including a 1st unless we are giving up something else.

I liked your traded down scenario you just posted.

I like this. Only thing I can see as a potenial holdup are the Wolves having issues at PG. I mean Dunn was a high pick...just spitballing.

Exactly. In general I'm just a little bit more at ease with who they seem to be bringing in and that they're coming. I think Giles could be a slip candidate because of his knees. If he's there at 34 he could be worth a gamble maybe.

I'm cooling on trading up for Fox. I definitely don't like trading 5+10 to move up one spot. Also the value of Miami's pick is in question right now, with Riley getting Bosh's cap hit off the books Miami could land a major player this offseason. I say No to your friends trade and I take DSJ and OG.

i really love this trade scenario. one of the best i've read the last couple of weeks. for me it seems so important to trade up from 10. but not sure weather it would work with the contracts. maybe we should take a contract ( Noah :banghead: ) from the knicks and trade someone like KK to the wolves?

I don't mind the package, but if it's at the expense of landing Jackson that's a no can do from me. If either ball or Jackson make it down that far you have to take them IMO unless they really are opposed to playing in Sac and it will cause more off the court issues which is something the Kings obviously don't need.

Yup!

Some are getting caught up in the hype I think. The value of 2 guys in the top 12 players vs just one especially in this draft and filling the applicable positions is too great to pass up.

It wouldn't be Jackson alone though. It would be Jackson, plus whoever we get at #10.

Return to Sacramento Kings
