Read some talk that Sac might trade 5 & 10 for 3 (Monk, Ntilikina to 76ers / Fox to Sac)

That would benefit a Jackson at 4 scenario.

That would be nice if Sacramento were to pull the trigger on that.

No, maybe 2-4 people do, but not many. He makes the least sense of everyone UNLESS we are definitely planning on keeping Bledsoe long term, Jackson, Ball and Fultz are off the board, and we feel good with our 3-5 rotation and feel a backup for Booker is what we most need. It's true we don't have depth at the 2, but I think you can find backup 2s in free agency or later in the draft fairly easily.

He makes the least sense out of everyone!?! In what regard? Thought we were taking BPA? If you are not considering Monk then you and most of the people here are looking for fit and IMO that makes the least sense picking at 4.

If a Monk is BPA, then McD is picking him.

I'm sure that having no defense or playmaking form your guards will bring many wins.

Well his consensus rank as where he ranks among prospects is 8 or so. So theoretically the 7 players above him are known as BPA over Monk. However Smith and Markkanen both rank ahead in at least one list and behind him in at least one....so theoretically he could be as low as 9.

So since Monk isn't BPA, there is your answer.

Lets say there is a tier of equal players after the top 3 or 4.

Most consider Booker our best player and cornerstone and he is a 2. Most consider we need either a long term starting PG or a defensive wing, considering our two biggest weaknesses are passing the ball and defense.

So we want a guy who fits neither of these....a guy who doesn't pass (2.3 apg/2.0 to pg), and jacks up a ton of shots.

We need guys to either get our young players the ball and help them develop, or give us some defense to stop the other team. He does neither.

It seems if you've watched the Suns of the past and the beautiful passing and ball movement of past teams, and UCLA this year and how Ball elevated all his teammates, and if you watched the Suns over the past couple of years with Bledsoe, Knight and Booker taking turns jacking up shots while others watched, you'd welcome a traditional pg, or you'd want a defensive wing to help cover for the deficiencies we have there.

But perhaps you like watching a couple guys take turns jacking up shots.

I mean GS for example shoots alot, but they have beautiful ball movement and everyone plays defense. I don't want more high usage short shooting guards who like to dribble and don't like to pass.

BPA is of value when the player that you might pick will get time to develop into someone better then you have or you might have the ability to trade them in the short term for value. If a player sits on the bench for years you are not going get good value from them in a trade.

So with Monk he only has value if he get to play and since he isnt a point guard and Booker's not at a level I want to see him bring it up the court all of the time and he will not develop to the level of Booker he has very little chance of becoming a BPA (he isnt Micheal Jordan, he is might be JJ Redick in time).
Just say no to idiots!!

Ball visited the Lakers today. Seems it went well.
I imagine in the next couple of days, rumors will come out sayin the Lakers are more infatuated with him than before, or no longer as interested. Should start to get exciting.

I think so too, but I don't agree with the Isaac assessment. I think people are giving him the "huge potential" tag based solely on his body type, given Durant and Giannis are also lanky and long. I think that KD and Giannis are much, much faster than Isaac and have better handles and passing abilities.

Isaac will be more Thon Maker than Giannis Antentokounmpo.

I think he's more Rashard Lewis than Thon Maker. I am no Isaac fan, but he's got a pretty good handle and shot for his size, no he's not Freak or KD athletic, but those 2 are definitely not the norm.

Im watching the actions more than the words. If lonzo doesn't work out for anyone else then I assume the lakers told him hes their guy. But if he schedules workouts with philly and Phoenix things get interesting.

Yea I like watching Curry, Klay, Lillard, Harden, Durant, Westbrook, Booker et al jacking up shots....effing love it!!

I hate watching pretend defense getting its ass ripped apart like every team GS demolished thus far by jacking up 3's!!

I loved it when we were good jacking up shots and playing no defense but going to the West Finals every year.

This is basketball......the only way you score is "jack up shots".....as many as you can...

The 3pt'r is the best shot in basketball.

Looks like I anticipated your response perfectly, which was the reason I added the GS blurb at the bottom about how they do shoot a lot of 3s BUT they also can all defend and all pass a ton with great ball movement....after acknowleding how Monk does nothing of that sort, along with most of the rest of our players outside of Ulis and Bender, and occasionally Bledsoe and Booker. But we still have the lowest assist rate in the league.

Looks like you ignored much of my post.

GS doesn't play like a bunch of Kobe's which wouldn't work today. They play with elite passing, defense and shooting.

Edit: I love the GS fillerbuster. That's like me saying white men can't jump and then I create a scenario about Rex Chapman not being really white or that white guy from dunk kings being a foreign white guy just so I can't be rebutted..........smh. Oldest trick in the book.

Of course you would use GS as a pre-fillerbuster to my point. Ball movement is nothing without it going into the hands of shooters. You pass to an open guy who is afraid to shoot and see the ball movement get stuck. In order to have GS ball movement you need to have GS shooters...... All Curry did in college was "jack up shots." He wasn't known for passing, in fact that was is biggest knock, too small, 2 guard, couldn't guard, not a true pg etc........scoring SG.... No PG handles, no D....all he can do is score and he falls to 7th, dummies, outside of Dick Vitale.

If you want Ball movement get shooters or "shot jackers." I didn't know Monk was known as such either. I love the B Knight veil you try to mask him with..... predictable as my response 8-)

Why are GS player so wide up? uh.... Because they are afraid of the three, so players are running around looking like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get in front of the shooter, which leaves Durant wide open for dunks.... Its not the passing that makes these guys leave their feet and create a driving or passing lane, its the threat of the shooter, the pump fake....

You have to RESPECT shooters and that opens up everything.... isn't that the reason why you don't want Fox?

Just trade pick 4 for D'Angelo Russell and trade Bledsoe to Pistons for their pick and Drummond and call it an off-season

Return to Phoenix Suns
