Plenty of one way offensive guys get run, because offense and defense aren't equally important in the NBA. But maybe all the other good teams are wrong, and presti and you guys are right.

You heard of Iman Shumpert?

Yes.....you think he's close to as limited as Roberson? He demands a closeout and can dribble a ball

i have no interest in the nonsense in the second paragraph but i find this progression fun. you went from:

a) roberson might be the worst offensive wing in history, to
b) roberson is the worst offensive wing in the league, to
c) roberson is the worst offensive wing among the 8 remaining teams in the playoffs

hmm.

so yeah, i don't care whether or not roberson is as limited as any other player in the playoffs. that's not the point you made that i was debating, even though i'm sure that could be disproven as well. so why not just acknowledge the silliness of your statement that roberson is the worst offensive wing in the league; since it's clear that you've abandoned it in the discussion for some strange reason.

Nope, stand by it completely.....unfortunately, at this point, there are only 8 teams playing to compare to. All the games are on national tv and easy to watch. We won't get to see the other teams until next year, otherwise I'd encourage you to watch any of them as well and see if the defense plays any of their guys the same. This should be easy, watch a game a name someone.

I've watched the NBA since the early 80s and I've never seen a player in the postseason that the other team LITERALLY did not guard but now I've seen it twice with Roberson (last year with the Warriors and this year with Houston). It's a tremendous advantage for the other team because the guy guarding him not only never has to expend any energy defensively which allows them to stay fresh throughout the game but it also allows that guy to stay close to the lane and double team anybody driving the ball (KD and Westbrook last year and Russ and Oladipo this year) so it completely mucks up the offense. It also destroys spacing that you need to run an effective offense. On top of that Roberson in the postseason has now allowed Khawi Leonard, Klay Thompson and Harden to easily surpass their regular season scoring averages with him predominantly guarding them so clearly he isn't able to make the impact defensively that he should be to warrant starting him and play him over 30 minutes which is just ludicrous. If you're going to have a one way player, especially on the wing he dang sure better be an offensive one way player and you need look no further than Harden who is a poor defender yet led his team to 55 wins, the 2nd round and a runner up MVP. They just need to draft a good SF and get rid of him

Roberson's handle has actually been much improved—it's fairly solid now. They don't have him use it much, though.

Shump gets left open. His career TS% is below .500. Tony Allen has a far better career TS% than him. He ain't exactly lighting the world on fire on offense.

You must only watch one game per year.

Keep Roberson! If it wasn't for him, Harden would've averaged 40/12 during the first round.

you know a guy has no idea what he's talking about on the internet when they say "i've been watching basketball since the 80's" as a badge of honor.

Hey I don't agree with most of his points aside from Roberson, but he's not using it as a badge of honor, just to give perspective that he's been watching a while and hasn't seen a guy guarded like Roberson. I haven't either, on a contender in the playoffs. Say Tony Allen all you want, but I know the thunder guarded him alot tighter over their playoff battles than anyone does Roberson, and rightly so. If they pay him 15 mill a year it'll be the worst contract on the team unless he gets a J.

I don't think there's any way. I hope not at least.

Outside of game 4 where Harden played on an injured ankle he averaged 37.5 points per game against Roberson. KD also averaged 37 points in the 3 games played against Roberson this year. Quite the "elite" defender for sure.

Yep. The thing is all the Roberson fans on here point to all these advanced metrics, etc. from the regular season, but ignore the facts that when he faces a superstar in the playoffs, he gets torched regardless, or can be taken off his assignment often with 1 ball screen. It's not like he didn't play good defense on harden, it just didn't matter because in the NBA, great offensive players can't be stopped. At least he handicaps the whole offense though! Just can't believe people can't see this.

Was the same "He's the best option we have" argument when Perkins was there, granted Roberson can actually defend while perk was awful at everything. That doesn't mean he's good or shouldn't be replaced (complete non shooting wings are so hot right now!) No extension, please!
