yall better go somewhere with that drummond trade talk

Post#1 » by StunnaStan » Wed Jun 7, 2017 11:37 pm

mann listen, if it wasnt for andre drummond this team would be one of the worst in the league. all the bullcrap shots he has to cleanup because you guys hold the wing players unaccountable. we need to involve him more on the offense and reward he for getting 4 peoples worth of rebounds. while he can touch up a few areas, he just needs to focus on his freethrows. if drummond can get to 60% that might win us 6-7 extra games.

Offer Dre to Boston, LAL or Philly straight up for their respective lotto pick this draft and see how valuable Dre is compared to not having him, bottoming out and getting a shot at a REAL franchise player, not a fugazi one who only gets treated like one here because he's all we got.

Only way I would trade Drummond is if it was for a top 3 pick.

I would trade Drummond for a fence post, a good rake or a swift high five.

Giving Drummond more offensive touches would be disastrous considering how inefficient he is on those he already gets. And that's not including the easy dunks or put-backs, because that's not what getting him more offensive touches would mean. This is all before the free throws, which we all know is a huge handicap to his game.

I stopped reading at "we need to involve him more on offense..."

the exact opposite needs to happen.

The valuation of Drummond by some posters is borderline insanity. He can rebound. That is it. He is average to mediocre to horrible at everything else basketball related.

Max contract comes with different expectations. He hasn't really showed he has any interest in meeting them.

Yeah, he's pretty much just a rebounder.

No real talent in the post, even less away from the post, poor rim protection and overall defense.

I haven't completely given up because

a) as others have said, he's all we got
b) he has physical tools that make it seem like he really SHOULD be better, and in stretches has been

The trouble is that most of the time he's a pretty average player overall, and only gets that high because his rebounding is elite. When he's unmotivated (which this year was pretty much always) this is pretty much all you can get from the guy.

I haven't given up entirely, but for a reasonable trade offer I'd definitely move him and feel a sense of relief after doing so. I think most of us would. I'm sure there's some disparity on what a "reasonable offer" would be, but I don't think there's too many people who fundamentally disagree.

Dude's just a bigger Reggie Evans at this point.

So much potential but mostly bark instead of bite. Guy is what he is at this point, unless he really somehow gets more skilled and a better feel for the game in the span of his contract. I doubt it.

I think Bledsoe & Chandler is a reasonable return for Dre

Here's hoping it happens

Nobody is going anywhere with Lebron and golden state. Forget the NBA. Pistons have nothing to do with it. I don't know which sport I'd follow outside of basketball. Maybe Michigan teams. There's a reason for bandwagon fans guys, it's not fun watching the pistons anymore just to see them lose no matter what they do. In my opinion I've wasted time watching poor hot garbage basketball instead of real talent on the court. But then again I don't get the same rush with great teams. Pretty stupid overall.

My major problem with Dre (other than his effort) is the fact he's unplayable in a series like Cavs vs Warriors. If his FTs ever improved to the point he could stay on the court, he would still get put into every P&R defensively and be continually abused. Honestly I believe Dre is completely irrelevant to our future as a franchise, I don't believe his trade value should be treated like a bad contract, but he's never going to be a "Shaq" type of post presence, if that could even exist today, and our entire improvement as a franchise is contingent upon getting better players on the perimeter.

I always enjoy watching Lebron lose. He's the ringleader for the current NBA product.

Yup, he has enough post touches. He actually led the lead in hook shot attempts, but was significantly worse than everyone else in terms of efficiency.

Yeah, this is where I'm at too. The current style of the NBA evolved specifically to take advantage of bigs like Drummond and the way teams have to play with them in the game. There's no going back at the moment. Unless there are some drastic rule changes, and I doubt there will be since the NBA itself more than likely prefers this style of play, teams have to adapt.

I don't think the true bigs will be completely phased out but they're going to be reduced to situation role players. Even stud defenders/rim protectors at center are going to get run off the floor. Thompson, Gobert, Adams, Jordan, etc. come to mind. They are superb at what they do... but it doesn't fit with the way the game is going. Now the rest of the league might not have a choice anyways in the next few years with Golden State the way they are so those guys might stick around just so the other 29 teams can compete with each other.

It's hard to look at the Warriors and the way they play and not say that's the (very near) future though. I don't think it's just powered by superstars either, but that helps a ton obviously. Just guys that fit exceedingly well.

I know all of that but I'm still addicted to watching the Pistons. I actually find more enjoyment watching them than the Finals right now because I'm emotionally invested in one team and not the others.
