With the Finals going the way they went so far (and probably a sweep). I can see the Cavs looking to make moves and a few other teams looking to form their own Superteam. That's when Melo becomes really valuable, we see how good Durant looks when surrounded by stars, Melo can do the same in the right environment.

Hope we trade Melo and get a 1st round pick in return, then grab the Blazers 1st. And we're looking at 3 rookies to start a full rebuild with along with KP and Willy, not bad. Regardless of what harm Phil did to Melo's value, these Finals have brought Melo's value back up.

What could the Cavs possibly trade? They have almost nothing of value that they are willing to part with.

They would have to be willing to trade Love to a third team...like Boston...in order to get us any value.

I can't wait until this whole process this summer is over. The draft. Melodrama. Rebuild under way. I can't read or think about any more scenarios that don't even look appealing for trading Melo. The draft talk has long been one big circular discussion. Will we get more picks for Lee (Or is he going to Minny for Rubio) KOQ?

My brain hurts. I just want it over!

Why would they be willing to do that, but not willing to just give us Love directly?

I also don't think replacing Love with Melo would make them a superteam that could compete with GSW. They would need both.

I didn't say they would. That's what it would take and why would we want Love? Get a third team in who does want him.

I don't see any trade to a contender happening. I don't see us getting much value this summer. I see this dragging out all year. If nothing is done at the deadline...he opts out in the summer.

Melo could help the Cavs, but not at the expense of trading Love. They would need them both. Love has been huge with rebounding, which is something that Melo simply could not provide. Tristan Thompson has been complete dog poop this series, and if they lose Love, they would have no one to grab boards. They already have lots of ISO scoring, with Kyrie and Lebron. Moving Love for Melo would make them worse.

Release Melo if he doesn't agree to a trade that is helpful to us. With Melo we win 30 games, without him we win much less. With Melo we are boring because everyone stands around watching him. Without Melo we get to watch ball movement and our young players develop. We also get a higher draft pick next season which gives us more flexibility. Dumping Melo is a win-win.

That is a terrible idea. Don't need him on our cap for 4 years.

NBA experts: Carmelo Anthony not what the Cavaliers need

****

“In regards to this series and matching up versus Golden State, I don’t see how Carmelo would have made an impact in this series,’’ said former Nets assistant general manager Bobby Marks, who is now The Vertical’s trade analyst. “The defensive side of the ball would have been a major issue since Cleveland would not be able to hide him. Plus who does he guard? Draymond [Green]. Carmelo at this stage is best in the halfcourt. Ty Lue has made it clear that this Cleveland team is best getting up and down the floor. Plus he would have trouble scoring with [Kevin] Durant or Green on him.”

Indeed, one NBA assistant coach said Anthony is best at isolation and the Warriors’ defense is so ferocious, isolationists and players who don’t move the ball feed into Steve Kerr’s defensive game plan. Also, James is struggling enough with Durant. Imagine Anthony.

Plus, if the Cavaliers had somehow made the Knicks deal, they would have had to depart with Kevin Love, who hasn’t been the problem. In Game 1, Love scored 15 points, along with 21 rebounds and three blocks. He followed that up with 27 points, seven rebounds and two steals on 12-of-23 shooting in Game 2. His minus-8 was second-best on the Cavaliers.

“Anthony would be a great addition to any team. The question is who has to be traded to get him,” said Jeff Van Gundy, the ABC/ESPN analyst and former Knicks coach. “If it was Love, I don’t think that makes sense for Cleveland.”

Cavaliers GM David Griffin refused to even think of parting with the younger Love for Anthony in the winter, but Griffin might be gone soon because his contract is up and he’s reportedly getting interest from the Bucks. But another general manager would have a difficult time dealing for Anthony if Love is not part of the package. The over-the-cap Cavaliers don’t have even first-round picks to peddle and Anthony’s trade kicker balloons his pact to more than $33 million.

“I don’t see any trade of Melo to the Cavs that makes them better and that the Knicks would agree to,’’ one NBA GM said.

Isn't his opt out after next season? Maybe a year of coming off the bench is change his mind.

Why would he be on the cap for 4 years? Buy him out or sit him on the bench.

The only time he comes off the bench is during warmups. After that he can go back to the locker room and watch TV.

Neither of those are the same as waiving/releasing him, which is what you suggested in the previous post.

But yea, I think he might get benched if he blocks trades. I'm not sure it got there yet.

A buyout would be very messy, but is an option as well.

Oh my bad I didn't realize that a release automatically counts 4 years against the cap. Buy him out then or put him in street clothes and have him sit on Dolan's lap. :D

I was thinking about that as well. What if the Knicks were to get a trade proposal they liked and it's one of melo destinations he would agree to, but seeing the parameters of the deal and Melo like "nah".

Even though Melo has ever right to veto, the Knicks also have a right to limit those minutes as well.

Don't have to call it a benching, more of a young core development.

IMO Melo offensive numbers would easily match Love's and for the most part Love is a net negative on the defensive end. Cleveland could probably move Love to another team for a mid 1st rounder and defensive/rebounding big who could replace Love's rebounding.

The only way this works is if they find a Third team, like to Troy, like Detroit, or perhaps fourth team Who are interested in guys like shump, Smith, Jefferson, etc.

If a team is willing to take on a guy like those for a young asset then that asset comes to us

Otherwise both the clips and cavs are stuck with vet min signings like deron Williams which ain't getting it done

So they have to be aggressive, more so than us, to make it happen

With both George and butler staying and wade too Melo becomes the most coveted asset

Teams are gonna have to hustle to make it happen and it's gonna be complex
But it's gonna be a 3-4-5 team deal if it's gonna happen at all

Unless Boston deals with us directly. Hey have assets to move

THats bs

You don't have to hide Anthony on d any more than love or Irving
Less so in fact

And ISO issues are silly to

On part because ISO is how the cavs play and in part because we've all seen how effective melo is off the ball in the olympics

When he's played with James in the past he's gotten great looks and scored all day

This is a lazy article at best
