Why would Hayward join a lottery team?

They almost made the playoffs, they get Hayward and you're probably looking at a 45-50 win team. Plus...it's Miami lol.

31-10 in the last half of the year. Add Hayward, a lottery pick and a couple other FA pieces and yeah, you're definitely looking at a ECF contender and 50 win team.

Because the lottery team just ended the season 31-10.

Because said team is in Miami

I don't believe Hayward will leave the Jazz but Miami will always be mentioned with FAs because they're considered a destination city.

Miami has great ownership, great leadership, great coaching, great weather, great women, great taxes. I'd want to play there too.

With them being able to exclude Bosh's salary now I think they will have the cap room to keep Johnson and Waiters, as their cap holds are low enough to still give them the room to allow the Heat to waive Ellington and have more than enough room for the max contract.

It has become the fashionable thing for these guys to say that players are considering Miami after LeBron signed with the Heat back in 2010. It makes very little sense for Heyward to leave Utah for Miami, unless he just wants some nice weather.
Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

My first reaction to this is a little bit of nervousness, but this is just a rumor so I am going to continue to hold out hope that Gordon Hayward will stay.

I think this news causes me to believe the Jazz are making a move on draft night, and I think Hood is on his way out for a more consistent veteran. The question is, who could potentially be available for the Jazz? Who available would be attractive to Hayward?

I don't see any way he chooses Miami over Utah (or even Boston)

Man if I'm a young multi millionaire basketball player there's no way I'm not trying to live in California or Miami. When you're little and you're fantasizing about becoming an NBA player nobody is thinking about Utah

It's simple. We would understand if he stays in Utah, but he goes to Miami he keeps more $ in his pocket than he would in Boston b/c of the tax status which is important if you're leaving $40 million or whatever it is on the table.

Valid perspective. Much appreciated. Never even considered the human aspect of it all.

Indeed, why would a tall, good-looking guy in his 20s take a job paying tens of millions of dollars per year in South Beach.

One can only wonder....

Never understood why people say the weather's nice in Florida. It's terrible.
