The 2 picks and moving Lee's deal is enough for me plus Stanley who's still young with some potential left.

Knicks end up with 2 questionable contracts while getting rid of Melo but adding the 12th pick. Jackson tried to get Jackson twice nowlol
Cavs turn Love into Johnson-Quinn-Melo Good return
Pistons get there win now piece
Thats posible but lf I'm Pistons GM the pick wouldn't be this year's. Make a future and we have a deal. I really kind of like this deal especially if the pick isn't this year's.

the issue isnt making a trade work when moving love
he can land plenty of places and we can get value in return. Hell, we can even take him for Melo straight up
however the Cavs have been pretty clear that they dont want to move him
they want to add Melo, supposedly, and keep Love
thats why this is tricky
you need to find destinations for guys like Smith, Shump, Frye, etc and get value in return to us
I think its possible.
Check this out from around the deadline.. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2694210-cavaliers-rumors-trade-buzz-surrounding-ricky-rubio-iman-shumpert-and-more
hmmmm I cant see why the Cavs would want a guy like Rubio.. well maybe cause its part of an NYK deal.
If Shumpert can be flipped for Rubio then what could you flip Tristan for?
I see them moving Smith and Frye to Det for the #12 pick and Det sends Bobby Jackson to NY. Or perhaps to Mini and we get Rubio.
then Shump and RJ to Portland for Evan Turner and #15 to NY
NY send Melo and gets #12, #15 and Jackson or we flip for Rubio
each team gets what they want
Clev gets Melo to add to their starting lineup of Kyrie, LBJ, Love and Thompson plus Turner off the bench which they would love probably
Det adds the "established players" they asked for and move the cancer they dont want
Mini might move Rubio for Jackson but even if they dont whatever
Port saves a ton of salary moving Turner for short small contracts and Shump can fit well for them on a defensively terrible team
and NY gets 2 picks and either Jackson or Rubio

Re: official Melo trade speculation - thread 2
I don't think there's a trade that works in the current landscape aside from the Clippers throwing us some future goodies. That can all change. I think a few teams are gonna try to go all out and form superteams that can slow down the Warriors this summer. A team that is able to sign a star outright (Boston or Miami, San Antonio if Parker and/or Manu retire, even LA Lakers) may then go out and trade for Melo to get a closer.
The Warriors are gonna start slowing themselves down, as well which is why teams with the resources may try to go all out. They have to finally give Curry the max money he deserves. As a result, their depth is gonna go bye bye unless they want to start shelling out some MAJOR luxury tax payments.
We're probably gonna need to see a first domino fall before Melo rumors really heat up though. Him alone isn't getting anyone over the top to where GS is even nervous.

I'm curious what the Clippers are going to do. If Paul and Griffin go back they're really going to have to pull something out of their ass to improve that team. If Paul leaves, they're probably screwed. Ballmer doesn't seem like the kind of guy that wants to ride out a few losing seasons either. I expect the Clips to do something, although I'm not sure what that would look like.

I think Paul leaving the Clippers would be bad new for us on the Melo trade front.

Yeah, you're right. What do they know anyhow?
But that's not the point. The article vilifies Anthony for his lack of defense and inability to guard anyone but then doesn't bother to mention that Love has had the same problem. He then uses Love's stats as a rationale that Love isn't the problem while we know Anthony would put up stats as well. Not saying Anthony is what they need nor that Anthony is anything more than what he is right now but the arguments made isn't consistently sound. It pulls what it needs to fit his argument and ignores what doesn't fit. That's not a sound unbiased opinion piece. If he's going to talk about who Anthony is going to guard, why not talk about what Love has done from that standpoint and the impact that that has had? How about talk about the less than succinct offensive flow/chemistry between James and Love? He's doing the same thing that a lot of guys on this board does...pick a side first then justify it no matter what rather than look at both sides objectively to figure out the right side.
exactly
LOL, we're focusing on two different things. I merely posted the article to shut down any hope that a trade with the Cavs was possible. You guys wanna argue whether Love or Anthony is a better defensive player. I could give a rat's ass about that. I don't want either one of them on the Knicks. If somehow, we did trade for Love it would be for the sole purpose of moving him to a third team in order to acquire draft picks/young players.
But please, don't let me stop you guys. Carry on!

Melo's reputation must be defended at every possible moment. He would be a 14 time champion if it weren't for the incompetent front offices that hold him back.

Especially if Cleveland goes 0 and 4, you know Lebron will push Cleveland to do something big - although the fit isn't ideal between the Knicks and Cleveland. Clippers have nothing that I want (that I assume they'd be willing to give up). While Boston has both the need to improve their roster, and the ability to compensate the Knicks with useful assets - especially if Heyward stays home. So Boston is who I would talk to first. If Anthony wants to be part of a winning program now, a program with a chance to win the East next season, that's where he should go.

Melo's not leaving. He wouldn't be the difference maker for the celtics or the cavs against the warriors. Deep down, he knows that and won't leave just to get swept in the finals
WTF Post of 2017:
If Phil pulled that off, I would put a put a paper bag over my head, paste a picture of Jeannie on it, poke a hole through the mouth, and give Phil the best BJ he's ever had in his entire life.[/quote]

All it takes is one injury for GS to become vulnerable.

Hyperbole to underscore the point. There are posters here that fit into that category.

He could be a difference maker for a team already with stars which is why I see the Clips and the Bulls to the most obvious destinations. But that's dependent on what the Clips do. Is Paul going to SA? Griffin going home to OKC to team up with Westbrook and Adams is still a possibility. Boston seems to have a bunch of other options before they would consider Melo and there's still a chance that they'll just keep their picks.

Minny trades: Ricky Rubio

Really like this trade for all parties except for Minnesota. Minny needs something better then Shump and Nelson. Denver can give up a little more in return for Love. Take out Jameer and add in Jamal Murray, Hernangomez, Gary Harris or Will Barton (Doubt they trade Gary Harris) Also I wouldn't call a 4 team trade simple.

Revised trade:
Cavs trade: Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert,
Cavs receive: Wilson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony, O'Quinn
Knicks trade: Carmelo Anthony, O'Quinn
Knicks receive: #13 or Gary Harris, Ricky Rubio
Denver trades: Wilson Chandler, Jamal Murray, Hernangomez or Barton, #13
Denver receives: Kevin Love
Minny trades: Ricky Rubio
Minny receives: Iman Shumpert, Jamal Murray, Hernangomez or Will Barton
If the 1.3 million dollars make a difference between Jameer and Murray then that can be worked around. I think Hernangomez may make more sense to go to Minny. But im too lazy to see what the contracts look like.
Also... If the Nuggets prefer to keep pick #13... Id be more then happy to Gary Harris in exchange instead.
