Wow. Is that legit? Ball is the big winner, of course--even in the pick and roll.

Ball has the highest IQ by eye test alone before.. But advance numbers show that too. Picks shots and plays well.

Re: Draft Discussion Part 3
Ball averaged 8 FGA per 30.
No PG / SG / SF in the NBA averages more than 10 points doing that.
So the obvious question is can he lift his volume while maintaining that effeciency.

Confirms a lot of my impressions - that Jordan Bell should go mid-first (not that he will), that DSJ is a terrifying selection, that Josh Jackson could be Corey Brewer, and that Tatum should go no lower than #4.
I've been moving back toward Tatum as BPA. My concern has been and remains TJ - I don't think you can fit Tatum and TJ on this roster without killing DJJ's and Bender's development.
Funny I read your post earlier before reading that article and saw your mention of JJ. It reads a little different to see everything he said about JJ (now that I've had time to read the article), and not just the Brewer part. You know, like it's his favorite player in the draft.
Josh Jackson, 6’8” freshman forward, Kansas
“He’s my favorite player in this draft. As gifted a scorer as he is, I think he has a lot of untapped potential in that area. The off-court stuff is definitely a concern. You’re talking about two incidents in one year. Is that going to be a lingering issue? You don’t have to run plays for him. I think one day he could be a Jimmy Butler type guy. He has shooting deficiencies, but they went in at Kansas. I don’t know how they went in, but they did. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. If he’s able to shoot, he’ll be a Grant Hill or an Iguodala. If he doesn’t, he’ll be like Corey Brewer, which is still pretty good.”

There is a ton of detail on Jackson and Tatum's shooting #s in darealjuice's draft writeups up above.

No PG / SG / SF in the NBA averages more than 11 points on the number of FGA's Ball took in college.
So the question is if he can lift his volume significantly while maintaining his effeciency.

I'm hoping (if we pick him) JJ is a Shawn Marion/ Reggie Miller shooting type <in 70's Chinese movie with delayed voice over voice> Your shooting is unorthodox but

Ball, Jackson, Tatum and Markkanen - IMO, the teams that draft one of those 4 will likely be very happy down the road. Smith, Fox, Ntilikina, Monk - IMO, the teams that draft one of those 4 are will likely be disappointed. Isaac is a wild card to me, kind of like Chriss this past season. Lots of reasons to be worried, lots of reasons to be hopeful.

It's weird, though, that he wouldn't actually select his "favorite" player in the draft with the first pick. He said would take Fultz #1, despite the fact he's scared of him because he's not a winner. He also said he "loves, loves, loves" Taytum who he seems to think will turn into Carmelo Anthony. I'm not arguing with you, I just don't know what to think he means when he says Jackson's his "favorite." But one thing was clear: he think it's possible that his favorite player will turn out to be Corey Brewer.
Mind you, I still might come around to Jackson in the end. No two players are alike. I do think there's very good reason to think JJ will be better than MKG and Corey Brewer, and I wouldn't be shocked if JJ turns out to be the best player in this draft.

It was also clear that he thinks it's possible he becomes Jimmy Butler or Grant Hill.
For the record, in case you don't know, I am scared of people who can't shoot. I was not a fan of Jaylen Brown last year. But despite Jackson's FT%, his shooting #s outside of that were good...or pretty much on par with the other wings.
But what I do love is that he could guard the best wing on the floor alongside Booker if needed. He could play the 2 if needed. I love that he's a team player and passer.
Also, I have never been a Carmelo Anthony fan.
I think Tatum might be the BPA when we draft, but I kind of hate the fit and I don't like ISO players in general. Booker plays quite a bit of ISO as does Bledsoe and I am just don't think he fits alongside Booker as well. Not even as well as TJ, who's strengths, offensively at least, complement Booker better.
Now there is no doubt Tatum puts a lot of work in and is highly skilled. A comparison to Melo doesn't excite me though. A comparison to Grant Hill does excite me. Or Butler. Guys that do a lot of things.
I don't think any of us are going to assume all players will turn into what people project their floors to be.
I will say I think Tatum is probably the safest pick of all the guys likely to be there. He shouldn't go lower than 4 if you want to make a safe pick and the consensus top 3 are gone. So I do agree with him.
I voted for him in our last mock that came around, and then I drafted him in my mock offseason sim. But I haven't been excited about that pick since I made it for various reasons.

I think JJ's work ethic, BBIQ and intensity sets him apart from similar players in the past. I still have some big concerns about him but IF we draft him (or if Boston drafts him) it will be because he's answered those concerns. I'm quite certain front offices are aware of all the same concerns many of us have so I'm sure they'll do their due diligence and either draft him or pass him by. It's the opposite with Fultz IMO. You know what he can do if he chooses to work for it, it's his drive and commitment to winning that is in question and you don't really know how that will play out until he gets to the NBA. That's why, I'm sure, that Boston is probably crossing their fingers that JJ will fly through the B.I., interviews and workouts so they don't have to gamble on a young man's questionable heart and will to win.

What would give you that idea? That link that was posted that we read based on one guy's thoughts? I agree it's concerning reading that, but I'd be pretty surprised if Boston took Jackson (after taking a pretty similar player last year in Brown who showed some promise). I wouldn't be shocked if they traded the pick. And it is interesting that about the same time we read that guy never seemed to have the will to win, that the Kings, of all teams, pop up in the trade rumors because Fultz is visiting there. Sounds like par for the course. They are good at finding those guys.

Not at all. I've said similar things about Fultz all season. This idea that he lacks a will to win or lacks a competitive fire is not new, it's dogged him all season. But people keep waving it away and instead tend to blame everything on Romar or his teammates. But if you watched them play entire games instead of highlights his lack of intensity and focus really stood out at times. That's why we kept asking how come they play just as well without him as they do with him.
I agree that a trade is also quite possible but I don't see much similarity at all between Jackson and Brown. I've never thought that Fultz fits what Boston is doing other than perhaps as a replacement for IT and I don't think he has Isaiah's killer instinct so it gains them little IMO. But if they keep the pick and IF Jackson tests out well physically (psych profile too), he seems like a perfect fit to that roster (and to ours too for that matter).
