FIT, that pertains to a player's style of play. I'm not saying he's so much better than a replacement player.

Really? It was only $20 when I went last year. Walked down to more expensive seats by the 10th pick.

Did you buy early? I'm usually a late purchaser. Pretty sure me and my crew got stuck up for $40+ last year.
... So I just went and checked, and Ticketmaster has them down to $41 for the cheapest. I guess I panicked. Lol.
JojoSlimbiid wrote:Negrodamus wrote:If you knew Jayson Tatum would turn out to be Gordon Hayward at the next level, would you select him at 3?
They had similar stats in college, Gordon a bit better with advanced stats, but he was also playing at Butler again lesser competition.
I'd for sure draft him @ 3 knowing that was his outcome. I dunno when watching Butler play that year it was surprising how athletic he was for a you know that kind of guy. I think he looked a lot more explosive going to the basket at Butler than Tatum at Duke. Either way 100% you take Tatum if that is his ceiling.

Yeah but Allen Iverson was drafted as a PG and played PG at an All Star level. Monk didn't play PG at all in college and doesn't look capable. PG is a more valuable position than short shooting guard. You do not draft a short shooting guard high in the draft. Besides when you start comparing the former #1 pick in the draft and hall of famer to someone that may not go top 5, you are traveling down the wrong road. Lou Williams, Jamal Murray, Shawn Respert, and Tony Delk are some short shooting guards that deserve to be in conversation with Monk more than Iverson.

Some pretty good 2 guards on this league thst are Monk's size. CJ McCollum and Every Bradley jump out to me, but also Redick, Gary Harris, Monta Ellis, Waiters, Oladipo. It would be similar to Houston where Harden rums the pg on offense and Beverly plays off the ball while guarding shooting guards. Simmons would dominate the ball. And Monk played in high school, only played wing because of Fox

But his ability to catch a ball running just about full speed, turn and eye up the basket, and release the ball in a timely fashion is second to none in this draft
thats what drives me crazy about the downplaying of his shooting ability.
"oh all he does is shoot!"
YEAH BUT HES REALLY GOOD AT IT LIKEWHAT
im sure people said the same thing about Curry coming out of college. "well all he does is shoot"m
not saying Monk has evn remotely close tothe ball handling skills as Steph but he isnt as bad of a creator as people give him credit for, and he seems like someone who will expand their game, much like CJ McCollum has

Monk got shut down by Justin Jackson. All you need to do is put some 6'6 or 6'7 guy on him and Monk will have difficulty getting his shot off. Monk also cooled off in the second half of the season. I like him but I think 3 is too high. I get nervous about these shooters who don't do much else. Monk is a good athlete though. Monk was just a freshman and I do like his burst but he's not getting any taller. What makes him any different than a Ben Gordon or someone on that level. I wouldn't mind getting Monk if we got a 2nd 1st round pick but no way I'm taking him at 3. Too risky to me.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Ben Gordon is who I think of when I envision what Monk could be in the NBA, except Gordon had a much better handle and was better at getting himself to spots to get his shot.
I like Malik Monk, but taking him with a top 3 pick is borderline ridiculous. Picking a lesser player like him won't hurt you much, if Ben Simmons is an All-star and he's here as long as Monk is here. But what if Simmons re-breaks his foot (or just isn't any good)? Now you're sitting here after 4 years of tanking, with nothing but Embiid and a bunch of mismatched role players. The 76ers aren't at the point where they can bypass high level talent for "fit", like they're one piece away from The Finals. And I'm certainly not going to change my valuation of a prospect based on the thought that I have another player that will always be here to play next to him and make him successful.

This is his first duel against Justin Jackson this season.
