Possibly #5 and WCS to Pacers, Paul George to Celtics, and #1 Markelle Fultz to Kings. All the "experts" say Fultz is legit I just question his perceived lack of fire and 9 win Washington team. Is he really that much better than Fox, Tatum, etc?

If he is then offer #5 and WCS.

Take on contracts (Harkless & Leonard) from Blazers to get picks #15 & #26 for Koufos. Donovan Mitchell is growing on me at 10. I think in today's guard oriented league it would be nice to have an Avery Bradley type player to put on Curry, Westbrook, etc. Fultz hopefully becomes a Harden type player and Buddy like JJ Redick.

Draft #1 Markelle Fultz (hopefully a star)
#10 Donovan Mitchell (combo guard/defender)
#15 OG Anunoby (roll dice on defender)
#26 Jordan Bell (great energy/defense /rebounder)
#34 Caleb Swanigan (scorer/rebounder)

Hope to get top SF in 2018 draft

PG Fultz/Mitchell/Galloway
SG Hield/Bogdanovic/Richardson
SF Harkless/Temple/Anunoby
PF Labissiere/Bell/Swanigan
C Papagiannis/Leonard

Take time with Anunoby to get 100% healthy. The team would be young, good shooters, and have defensive players with potential to be one of best defensive teams in NBA.

I love this scenario.

I would hate to see WCS go but adding those pieces makes it worth it IMO.

Only thing I see as a change someone would ask for is I think the Blazers would insist Turner or Crabb be the one trade with Leonard. In that deal I'd take on Turner's terrible contract and let Anunoby come along slowly. We have the cap space and the time.

PG Fultz19-4/Mitchell20-4/Galloway25-1
SG Hield23-4/Bogdanovic24-?/Richardson21-4
SF Turner28-3/Temple31-1+1op/Anunoby20-4
PF Labissiere21-4/Bell22-4/Swanigan20-4
C Papagiannis19-4/Leonard25-3

*BOLD = Age-years under contract

That's a young roster and great chance to get Doncic or Porter Jr in 2018. I'm ok with Turner opposed Harkless. He could be a facilitator and at 28 still in prime just overpaid and not a good shooter.

I know right. This is obviously a dream scenario but damn. Taking an even deeper dive in, we'd only have around 65 mil in cap used this coming year, not counting whatever Bogdan's contract would be if he does sign. Even if we threw 12mil a yr at him we'd still be at least 20mil under the cap.

...sigh, we can dream haha

To it speaks of a couple of things, firstly Fultz is doing a favour, plain and simple which puts it out there that players are prepared to come in for workouts, and he is doing so with enough time for other draft candidates to schedule a workout with us.
Secondly I spoke about it a while back and it seems like the front office is doing due diligence on everything and it could be the same thing here and I applaud them for that.
What I'm most happy about is we seem to be in the drivers seat of a lot of the information that's getting out there/smokescreens, it's good to be on the other side for a change, let's just see where it puts us.
With all that said it looks like the hires we made a short while back have already paid off.

No one is getting caught up in anything. Just talking out scenarios as they present themselves.

But I agree that we are just seeing everything that we can and getting all the info we can. With all the assets and avenues to build a team that we have available it's the smart thing to do and like you I'm happy we doing it.

I don't know that we are on the other side of smoke screens...

I think its just business as usual before the draft and with us in such a prime position to make moves we are clearly going to be mentioned a far amount, good or bad. Just how the game is played at this point.

Agreed. I don't think it's going to happen. Just spit balling ideas off scenarios that come up.

We could possibly take on even more bad contracts for future assets and picks. I just wouldn't want them too long because it would be nice to throw big FA contract offers to guys of interest in '18 and/or '19.

Do you really value Giles over Anunoby?

I just have this feeling that OG is the Kawhi or Giannis of this draft.

Teams can clearly see the measurables and talent but there are a few knocks that let him slip from the top 12. Both of them went at 15. Go back and read their draft profiles and then look at what they became. Weird how things line up. Needless to say I really want him. Not saying I don't like Giles as a prospect but I think the pool of true PFs is so deep in this draft that we can wait for one of the guys stated. Even going into the 2nd rd, Motley, Rabb, Hartenstein, Wilson and Olivier all have potential. And that is off the top of my head.

Both are projects so it depends. Looking at the Kings structure in your scenario it seems a lot is riding on Papa ( Leonard is trash and should never play) so adding another Center with high potential fills a bigger need than drafting OG. Look for your SF in 2018.

I see your point. I just feel strongly about OG, obviously. I also don't think Leonard is "trash". He could play spot minutes and the PFs could get the bulk of the minutes at the 4-5. That is the way the league is headed anyways. Plus it would be easy to add a PF/C with more size with one of those later picks. Plenty in this and even next years draft. I guess you could say the same for SF haha :dontknow:

Yup, we could even address the center position that Trees had a problem with and get a pick back. Tons of centers out there on deals teams would like to get rid of. Mozgov, Noah, Mahinmi, Asik, Chandler, Pekovic, Plumlee etc etc...Drummond was even floated as available tho no sure we could get the type of pick we want for taking him.

The length draft
5- Isaac
10- Ntilikina

I remember this was my favorite pair at 8 and 10... Still kinda like it.

Ntilikina
Buddy
Isaac
Skal

Yeah if Fox is taken, I like the idea of team basketball, length, good defense, unselfishness, etc. No superstar most likely, but fun team basketball.

It could be a special team in this new era defensively. You just switch everything.

Both are projects, so may take a bit.

But length wise and athletic wise that's scary if everyone pans out man.

Wouldn't be too dissappointed with that.

Yup, could be special if everyone develops on track.

We have come full circle haha.

A pair of Isaac at 5 and Ntilikina or Mitchell at 10 would be an excellent draft IMO.

Not sure if you have seen Ntilikina play. He may very well be a solid player. But he isn't going to start in the NBA next year - he probably needs another year or two before he is ready. So, if you want Ntilikina then you need to sign or trade for a legit starting PG.

So, unless they could get Minny to trade Rubio for Afflalo (expiring) - doubtful. Then I think that the Kings should sit tight and take either Fox or Smith (who could end up as good as Fox) at 5. And then take BPA at 10.

Question for the board....

Can Willie, Skal and Laurie all play on the front line together?

On offense: Laurie plays on the perimeter as a shooting Big. Should be able to shoot over most players guarding him.

On Defense: not sure here how we match up. Can you hide Laurie on the weakest offensive player and rotate Skal and Willie on the other two? Can they cover a strong center small forward match- up?

Yeah offensively I think he can play SF. But defensively no. The question is can Skal or Willie play defensively to cover?

Willie probably could if you wanted to do that however it means one of Markkanen/Skal has to guard center. Just seems like this idea is bound to fail until Markkanen improves his "posture and core strength" as mentioned by the video KF10 posted. Even then I question his lateral quickness to guard 3's.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Markkanen can guard 3. I don't think he can. The question likely is; does Skal have the lateral quickness to guard most 3's? That flexibility leaves Willie to take the more offensive 4 or 5.

If they are smaller super quick you go Buddy and Bogdan.

NBA Top 10 Picks Contest

Post#1479 » by VeganKingsFan » Sun Jun 11, 2017 6:18 pm

Let's have a contest. It runs 6/11 through 6/14. Pick the top 10 picks in the draft correctly and you will be the RGM Draft Champion (under my authority, or lack there of). You may change your draft picks up through 6/14 when they are locked in. It is rare that a draft doesn't have a shocker or two in the top 10, so it's not so easy. Picks are tied to the draft slot and not the team, even if the pick is traded.
My Top 10 picks prediction:
1. Markelle Fultz
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Josh Jackson
4. Jayson Tatum
5. De'Aaron Fox
6. Malik Monk
7. Jonathan Isaac
8. Dennis Smith Jr.
9. Frank Ntilikina
10. Zach Collins

I am back from VEGAS baby . Had a ton of fun .

Anyways Willy Cauley Stein was on my flight which was cool , Said Hi & all but he was trying hard not to be noticed but some guy yelled out what the F is Willy Cauley Stein on the plane for . I think that pissed of Stein & he wouldn't take any pics with anyone .

Anyways moving on . Here is what is going on via my source :

Kings are in talks with both Boston & Phily trying to move up to the # 1 pick or #3 pick Goals are Fultz or Fox

To get the # 1 pick Kings would have to trade the # 5 pick . 10 pick + a young player likely pappa or Richardson also Koufas & Mac could be an option also

To get to the # 3 pick talks have been # 3 & Okafor for the # 5 pick our early 2nd + richardson & again Mac has been talked about .

Blazers are trying to trade a bad contract + a first rounder to teams most likely the 20th pick . They are interested in Afflalo as he could be dumped cheap to save the alot of $$$$$$$$ if that happens look for Harkless to be the player we acquire or another team does .

This draft will be crazy . I believe from what I here a ton of trades of veterans and picks will be dealt .

Also if we do not trade for the # 1 or # 3 pick we do have talks of trading back from our # 10 pick .

Kings are in a great spot to not only draft a major future star or two but to acquire future draft picks as well .
I do not expect the Kings to use any of their picks in attempts to trade for any veteran star player .

I know for a fact their is a great chance we move up in the draft . I am really excited for this coming season . I cannot wait !

Return to Sacramento Kings
