The Sixers weren't "stuck" with Okafor, they chose to take him over the 2nd best player in the draft in Porzingis. The Lakers actually did us a favor... if we would have taken Porzingis. We screwed ourselves.

Whoever we draft is going to end up being a high volume 3 pt shooter regardless of whether or not he's good at it. That is the reality of the roster we have constructed. Working from that premise you can then begin to determine which player will be the biggest net positive on our team. Assuming Fultz and Ball are gone, I would take DSJ over Jackson.

Not a fan of building teams on exceptions over trends.
Not a fan of comparing a draft outcome of one to another.
When people compare Josh Jackson, he strikes as a surefire POSITIVE PLAYER that still has upside. With the term "glue guy" and comparisons like Grant Hill, Gerald Wallace or Jimmy Butler. Jj's upside is with his shooting that shows promise and his undeveloped physique.
The top 3 guys are on the same tier that I find you're overpaying a top 1-2 pick to draft one of them while the 3rd pick is just the right spot.
If we get the least talented of them 3, then it's still is justifiable being at the 3rd spot. But like everyone let's hope for the best outcome

If the Sixers don't get a player at 3 who maxes out at 18ppg or above in the NBA then the pick was a failure.
We need scoring. Scorers win titles. You're seeing it in the Finals. I know 18ppg is an arbitrary mark, but I had to set a mark somewhere. I honestly was tempted to move it up to 20ppg, but that's asking too much. In the top 3, the #1 thing I want is scoring. The Sixers lack scorers overall and I think that's where the 3rd pick has to go.
If we are looking to take the next step into being a playoff team next season then in the playoffs we can't rely on ball movement and passing to get points. In the playoffs, there's a lot more iso, a lot more leaning on your stars. It's why I'm not really an advocate of Ball or Isaac. I think they will be well-rouned excellent players, but not top 3 worthy.
People compare Ball to Kidd, but Kidd was an 18-20ppg guy for most of his prime. Oh, and he would get you 10 dimes and almost 5+ boards as well. I think Ball reaching that level is a major stretch, sans maybe the assists numbers.
My board is evolving right now.
1. Fultz
2. Jackson
3. DSJ
4. Tatum
I don't think that we need scorers per se. We have Embiid who is going to be the main focus on offense and will probably average 26-30 ppg next season. I think we need shooters, and I think that we need a play making guard that can get his own shot. However, I would put perimeter defender over scorer in terms of team needs.

LA tends to stretch the truth a bit.. but there's no doubt DSJ has some serious hops.

But BS is the PG. The argument is that Monk can guard the PGs so Simmons won't have to which also happens to mitigate Monk's size issue. Two inches won't stop Monk from getting his shot off on the other end.
Also everyone compares Monk to LouWill. It took sweet Lou a long time to reach the level he is at and partially because LouWill is not athletic. Sweet Lou was also not a prolific jump shooter coming in, he was just a shot creator from mid range in - very much like AI.
Monk isn't that type of player. He may still be best suited for 6th man, but he certainly has the athletic potential to become a very good perimeter defender. Like JJ Reddick is 1 inch taller, has an average wingspan and is just barely athletic enough to make a living in the NBA as a starter. And you mean to tell me Monk can't start and is doomed to 6th man status because he's 6'3?
What Monk is is a mix of LouWill for swag, Jamal Murray for the stroke and Nate Robinson for the hops. He may not put it all together but he has a natural touch and the athleticism to be as good as he wants to be. The only reason I don't take Monk at 3 is because we have the kings trade lined up: #3 + Okafor + Furkan for 5+10. (Furkan is just a sweetener)

Ben Simmons is a point forward, and Lou Williams isn't athletic? He has one of the best first steps in the business.
if the Sixers draft Monk at #3 and do not make any more additions, what would be your prefered starting lineup next season?
A lightning quick first step doesn't get you above the rim and being a below the rim player has limitations. Those limitations IMO really hurt in the context of being an off ball scorer utilizing Backdoor cuts. Someone like LouWill can be guarded by smaller players because there's no risk he will go over them so you only need to put a solid on ball defender on him and issue solved. TJ can guard LouWill just fine. I do not think TJ could guard Monk because all Monk has to do is play above the rim.
BS for better or worse will be PG next season. Whether that works out or not remains to be seen but for purposes of lineup construction it doesn't make a difference to me. If we take Monk at three and do nothing else, my starting five would be:
Bayless/TJ
Monk/Sauce
Cov/Luwawu
Simmons/Saric
Embiid/Holmes
Simmons and Embiid run PnR while the other three use off ball screens to free each other up much the way of GSWs weakside offensive action.
Embiid mitigates a lot of the penetration concerns you have with a Bayless Monk backcourt. I think our lineups will be fine inserting Monk. The problem I see with our lineup constructions is that we keep trying to shoehorn Dario into that role when he should just run the second unit.

Bayless, Monk, Covington, is a low BBall IQ lineup headed for the lottery.
Lou Williams guarded by TJ MCConnell?

Don't say this too loud, people would rather act as though a player with a less than great jumper can't score in this NBA climate.

Yeah, Bolden is fascinatingly quick-twitch.
And he hits threes, rebounds and gives defensive effort.

I go back and forth on who I'd take 1st between Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Bell. They're both role players.
I think Mitchell is a bit over-rated as a talent on the 76ers board because of the perceived fit with Ben Simmons. On our team he has a window to become a starter. On any other team he's a 6'2, 3-D, third or fourth guard. But Avery Bradley could become his ultimate ceiling, if he develops as a shooter.
If the 76ers didn't have any PFs and/or Jahlil Okafor was the starting Center, then guys would over-rate Jordan Bell, because of perceived fit on the roster. Bell's lack of size makes his potential success a riskier proposition. But if his defense and rim protection projects in anyway, he'll be the more impactful player.

Should have stayed at UCLA this year. Lonzo Ball would have made him a sure lottery pick and TJ Leaf would have been sitting on the bench.

Which sophomore G would you rather have: Donovan Mitchell or Jawun Evans?

In a vacuum Mitchell because I don't foresee him being a defensive liability and could be very good. On our team as fit I would choose Mitchell too. We would have to take him in top 15 though. Evans will be a late first or early second so he's more attainable. I think Evans can be a very good player coming off the bench as an offensive player and give us points. I think he will be a defensive liability though. In this draft we have a better chance of drafting Evans which is fine by me.

Tough choice, but due to fit, I'd probably take Donovan Mitchell for the 76ers. 6'0 PGs don't start in the NBA anymore, no matter how good they are. PG is such a deep position, it's hard to project Evans as a potential Starter at 6'0 tall.

I like Juwan Evans a lot, but it's hard to project 6'0 guard. I don't believe in calling players "So-and-so lite". You either have all of the Comps tools, or you don't. Juwan Evans has a high skill level, but doesn't finish anywhere near the level that Chris Paul did at the same stage, and he's nowhere near as quick. Chris Paul was DeAaron Fox quick. Evans is a very good prospect. No need to go overboard and compare him to Chris Paul.

I think it's obvious where I stand, but Evans was pretty phenomenal last year. I'd consider him in the mid first round for sure.

Would you mark him as a possible exception if he had plus or elite quickness instead of just being ordinary in this regard?
