lol 99% of the Sixers world would be doing flips if Fultz fell to 3. Only on our contrarian board would people be depressed about it.

If the Sixers select Josh Jackson or Tatum it's because they decided to not resign Covington. "But Covington can play with Jackson or Tatum..." We'll certainly get to see an entire year of if that's really the case. I know that they can't play together but who actually does well playing with a SF like Covington that's a career sub 40% shooter?

I think Tatum is underrated by many people and I have him in my top 5. I don't get why he gets so much hate. I wouldn't take him over Jackson though.

IF Fultz did fall to us I'd be fine with taking him only because he's 3rd on my board. I'd rather have Ball or Jackson. And I think you can make a case for Isaac or Smith Jr being taken ahead of Fultz.

I wouldn't select Tatum over Ball, Jackson or Fultz. Taking him at #3 would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Yea, he's strangely underrated. Everything from his game and size to his personality warrants a top 5 (and top 3 imo) pick. He's already an elite scorer and the tools he possesses allows him to be a plus defender. I just listened to a podcast with his predraft trainer Drew Hanlan, Joel Embiid's trainer, and he said Tatum is shooting 80% from NBA threes in their workouts. Yes, it's against air, but he has adjusted to the range. Also said he's the most pro ready prospect he's trained. Obviously could be pre draft hyping, but I'm liking what I hear out of that camp.

im kinda worried about tatum's finishing ability. he just looks very stiff, no wiggle. plays under the rim.

i gotta check out his highlights again

Tatum is an OK player. He's just so ordinary and average it seems like a waste of an opportunity with a top 3 pick. The comps to Carmelo are off. He's nowhere near the quick twitch athlete that Carmelo was. And he's nowhere near as good of a prospect as Carmelo Anthony. If he reaches his absolute ceiling, he could be Danny Granger, but I'm not sure he's that good either.

With the news of Lakers working out Fox tomorrow morning, I think the promise to Jackson was made by Philly.

Doesnt mean Boston wont still take him, or that Boston wasn't the team who promised him.

But imagine if the top of the draft went 1. Jackson 2. Fox...

Then Sixers I guess take Fultz and Suns take...Tatum...and SAC takes Ball?

Tatum played for Duke so we know how his NBA carreer will go, unless Lebron washes him clean of his Duke spirit. Maybe Ben Simmons can cleanse him?

It must be noted that the beginning of his season was recovering from an injury as an 18 year old freshman. Conference/ NCAA Tourney, he was shooting 61% from 2FG on an large sample size (9.8 FGA per game) and averaging 20 ppg. How many of those were at the rim, I don't know. But getting buckets for him is not an issue. He also has the frame to put on muscle, I believe.

Tatum has had several dunk attempts blocked, that can only get worse in the pros.

I think Tatum has one of the best first steps of the top prospects. I also think Tatum is the 2nd best player behind Fox to be able to create his own shot. He's a bit mechanical but I would say he doesn't have much wasted movement. He's a very good one on one player. And he can shoot. With his shot good enough for defenders to respect it and not give him much space it gives his a better chance to beatnik his man.

I wish Tatum was a little less streaky from three or a significantly better finisher. It's just hard for me to get super excited about a guy that boogies on people and then pulls up from mid-range for the majority of his scoring. Isn't that a style of play the league is getting away from?

I like that he plays defense, though.

It's a fair critique, but don't you think someone with his form and ability to hit jumpshots elsewhere on the court will translate into a three point shooter as he develops in the league? Also, isn't 62% at the rim not terrible? I mean, Josh Jackson shot 69% at the rim.

Don't freak out, Tatum haters, that Liberty Ballers article's title was totally misleading. Here's the quote the article is based on:

Nothing in a workout or what I hear from a workout is really going to change [anything]. From what I was told, Fultz didn’t shoot the ball exceptionally well in his workout in Boston, but they know he can shoot the ball. It’s one workout, it’s a one-on-zero deal. I was there after that workout, and then I came out to LA for Lonzo Ball’s workout here, and then I sat with LaVar and Lonzo yesterday for a while in Chino Hills.

So I still think it’s going to be Fultz at one, Lonzo Ball at two, I think Magic [Johnson] is enamored by Lonzo Ball. and then I think three is a little bit of a tricky choice for Bryan Colangelo and the Sixers, do they go with Josh Jackson, do they go with Jayson Tatum? It’ll be one of those two, I have a feeling.

Just Jeff Goodman's "feeling."

I'd take Tatum over Fox and Isaac probably, but not Jackson.

I like players who can "boogie" on a defender and get his. But the college game is a totally different sport. If you don't have that burst to beat a superior athlete, that "boogie" goes away in the pros. If he can't get around or over his defender in the pros, that "Boogie" don't mean nothin'.
