Me acting like I found gold .... but look at 0:35 - 0:50 ... he rebounds and makes a full court assist with his left hand ... and the pass that blow me out is the next one ... he blocks and makes a full court assist with his RIGHT (OFF) HAND :o

I mean, has anyone tried this pass in game... including myself being a point guard I can't remember myself ever trying a full court pass with my off hand... This is not luck, this is hard work to improve his off hand. There are more off hand passes in there.
Now imagine ... is there a full court pass that Giannis can't catch ? ... Thank you.
This guy knows and loves basketball, a great prospect, an additional hope, I wouldn't pass him at #17

Against the stronger competition they faced this year, Collins averaged, per 40:
18 points, 13.9 rebounds, 4.8 blocks on 57.6% FG%

His overall numbers, per 40:
23 points, 13.6 rebounds, 4.1 blocks on 65% FG%

So his scoring came down a bit but was still good and his rebounding and block numbers were actually better against the stronger opposition.

Edit: Keep in mind this is just against the better teams that Gonzaga faced; I can't guarantee they all have great size, and I'm certainly not about to go through every Zach Collins possession to see if the other team's big man was on the floor at that moment, but I think it's a decent gauge to judge him on.

Yeah his passing is really nice. There might be 5 guys there at 17 who I would like in the 10-14 range in an average draft which would be very strange and exciting.

Thanks I appreciate that. Though I'd still like to see him against NBA length. Hoping DX does a highlight video on him versus a legit 7 footer. I know it sounds like I am not open minded in him but the reality is I watch those scouting vids and just keep thinking "well that gets blocked in the pros" or "he doesn't get that board in the pros" or "Moose
would destroy him". I'll get on board if we draft him but I am not sold on him.

Edit: I think I am realizing the source of my negativity on certain guys this year. I want toughness added to this roster and it occurs to me anyone that might first reaction is they are "soft" I'm just immediately down on them. Not saying that is a correct assessment of Collins in this case but just occurred to me the common thread in guys I don't like is that I don't perceive them as "tough" and guys I like this year almost all have "toughness" in their reports.

I hear ya. I've often had those concerns in regards to other players as well. I remember thinking the majority of Justise Winslow and Terrence Jones scoring in college wouldn't translate against bigger/longer NBA athletes too.

Does anyone else feel that Justin Jackson could potentially be a great fit on this team in a Tony Snell type roll?

"Obviously, they have some good scorers here already," Bell said. "So if I were to come here just to do all the dirty work, rebound, defend and make the right pass and make the right reads."

He was more than just a basketball and volleyball player growing up. Bell played wideout and defensive end in football as a freshman and sophomore at Long Beach Poly High School.

Poly has a nationally renowned football program. More than 60 Jackrabbits have gone on to NFL careers. Former Eagles DeSean Jackson, Winston Justice and Brandon Whiting played there.

"That definitely helped me," Bell said of the Poly football experience. "Our football team, everybody was good. We had some good players there. So you definitely had to bring that edge every day in practice and just carry that over to the basketball team. That definitely helped me coming into college."

I could see Bell being a Taj Gibson type guy.

Bell seems like a low ceiling high floor guy to me. Not a sexy pick but a solid pick and someone that'll contribute in 1 form or another pretty consistently. Im perfectly comfortable saying I'd have zero problem taking him at 17.

Regarding Hartenstein, if all the draft players near our draft position hit, his game would be most beneficial to this team IMO. Another big that can hit a 3 but can rebound, pass, put the ball on the floor, and protect the rim. You could put him at center, Thon at PF, and Giannis at SF. Everyone would be a 3 point threat (except perhaps Giannis). Rebounding problems solved. Strength under the rim solved.

Part of me says go for it. He was mocked a mid first round pick not that long ago and probably didn't deserve his slide in the mock drafts.

Given that Middleton, Snell, Vaughn, Terry, Brogdon, Dova and Giannis all played some minutes there this year, I'd say, yes, but if the question is can he guard the SG position well enough, my answer is I don't know

He's Jabari bad on defense. He probably can guard SGs 'as good' as PFs but that doesn't say a lot.

Can Anthony Bennet play SG?

Hartenstein looks like a great prospect. Definitely in with that choice.

Idk about that. He has the potential of being DPOY, that is a pretty solid ceiling.

I don't get the Bucks drafting Hartenstein. He's a project, and his game's similar to Thon. We've also got 4 other bigs under contract at the 4 and 5 that he would have to overcome for minutes.

If you think he's going to be an all-star, then you throw all of the above out the window, but I think that's a looooong shot.

Sounds like shades of Tim Thomas in terms of length, skills, and "intangibles." I'd be very happy with a Timmy 2.0 there. Loads of potential and perhaps the "work your ass off" culture of the core will help him strive to reach his potential unlike Timmy. Big Dog probably didn't exactly inspire Timmy to be the best he can be.

DingleJerry wrote:Not getting into arguing about specific players here. But didn't we draft a stretch 5 last year who looks like he has a good chance right now? Plus we have Giannis already. Don't we drastically need more guard and wing depth, people that can create and make shots. I suppose if none of the guard/wings fall that you like, then sure take the best big available. Otherwise I'd rather take my big flyers in the 2nd round and hope to get lucky while prioritizing guards with the first pick. I mean, basically the whole league is sitting on a bunch of 7 footers they can't use, some with ridiculous contracts.

Yeah, I'd rather find a new home for Henson and target budget UDFAs like Nigel Hayes and Sebastian Saiz for 4/5 depth.

Your last sentence is spot on.

I really really like the middle-first round of this draft class
Can't wait to see who we pick

I'm even hopeful we might get a rotation piece out of our 2nd round pick.

That second part has me hopeful. I'd love a guy like Frank Mason even if he is undersized.

Wow, what a bold statement. I don't really see that at all but I guess you could be right as well. I see a mixture of Kenneth Faried and Dejuan Blair in Jordan Bell. Not that that's even a bad thing but that's a pretty low ceiling imo.

I think we have a pretty awesome developmental environment. We theoretically have a starting 5 and sixth man. If we select the right players, they could be eased in to 7-9 roles and be positive contributors by the end of the season.
