We knew it was gonna happen.........

Post#1 » by neutralfan » Tue Jun 13, 2017 3:52 am

We knew KD was gonna win a ring as soon as it happened. My question to all the thunder fans is how do you feel about it and how do you feel about the future of the nba. Imo I don't know how I can watch it anymore. There is literally no competition out there to go against this team.

Thread worthy?

He's not on the team, he's a glorified Harrison Barnes. Good for him and his posse, he won a ring, but there are about 25 other SFs in the NBA who could have won a ring playing his role on that team. Heck Roberson could have.

I feel similar to you. I've been an NBA fan my entire life, well before there ever was an Oklahoma City Thunder. To me the league is at a low point right now competition-wise. What's scary is the Warriors could legitimately do this for another 4-6 years. They'll get a bunch of bandwagon fans but I think for those of us who love the game and really want to see competition this doesn't bode well.

And to this point, is it bad I didn't watch after pretty much the first quarter?

Oh and there was an awful call that may have lost the Preds the Stanley Cup last night and ESPN didn't care, but this is on 24/7.

I honestly don't know how people watch this. This is going to be the result for the next 5 years in the playoffs.

I wasn't going to make a thread, but if people want one I'm not closing it.

But if anyone comes in here to talk crap to us I got that ban button on lock.

I have seen dominance before as well but this is different. When Jordan and bulls, shaq and lakers did it, it was because of one player. If you could stop them or they went down than they could easily be beat. With the warriros KD could be injured and they still make the finals.

I think the Shaq Kobe Lakers is the closest thing in my lifetime to this level of dominance, but you're right, that was the more established NBA title formula. 1 lead dog and his wingman. This is different. This is most closely analogous to watching USA basketball in Olympic competition where if its not the top two guys its the 3rd or the 4th or even a guy coming off the bench. Its not NBA basketball IMO.

Nah. Don't blame you at all. I just had to watch it. Even if there was only a 1% chance the Cavs could pull the upset I didn't want to miss it.

I'm just ornery. Gonna watch not ESPN for a while and wish the worst for him.

Yeah I'll catch some OKC games, and some Sixers (local broadcast), but not caring nearly as much. I've bee getting excited for football and watched more NHL and movies this year, why bother.

Cupcake happiness was more funny than depressing to watch. He looks like he's 12 years old. It's clear that he just cares about his basketball image and his ''legacy''. It's a shame for one of the best talented player ever, but whatever.

Hope the cavs find a way to improve (don't know how). They should get rid of Kevin Love and try to get some Paul George kind of player. LeBron was very classy. Huge respect for him. He's no cupcake that's for sure.

Bugh. Just ignore it.

I'll just post it before someone else does. Per Jenkins:
One official of the Oklahoma City Thunder was encouraged by the upbeat tone of Kevin Durant in the days following their loss to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.
Up to the point the Warriors lost in Game 7 of The Finals, the Thunder were confident of their chances to re-sign Durant.
“The day Golden State lost, everything changed,” the official said. “The phone calls, the text messages, they were more distant.”
Draymond Green texted Durant less than an hour after the Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7.
“See what we’re missing,” Green recounts the text message he sent to Durant “We need you. Make it happen.”
Green had been recruiting Durant for months but this was his strongest pitch.
“Right after you lose Game 7,” Green says, “shows you’re serious.”
Durant responded: "I'm ready. Let's do this."

So weak. Weakest superstar in the history of sports.

That is what he should have said to his teammates who were carrying his sorry ass through last year's Playoffs.
