MVP of the Warriors: Curry or KD?
It seems like the media has crowned KD as the Warriors #1. I'm interested in what fans think (and I realize that this forum does not represent the entirety of all fans).

KD clearly deserved the FMVP. Curry is clearly the MVP of the Warriors.

I think KD deserves it because he carried them multiple times when the shooting was off. But Steph was incredible as well and I would not blame anyone for thinking he is the MVP.
Bottom line is the Warriors don't win without both of them doing what they did.

Steph has had to adjust his game quite a bit this year but quite clear that he's still the most important player for the Warriors.

Yep.
Steph Curry is the heart and soul of the team, B2B MVP and completely changed the fortunes of this franchise from bottom feeder to NBA contender year after year. An entire NBA system was designed to highlight him as some freak shot cheat code.
KD is a gun, a hired gun at that. So grateful for him to be on my team, but Steph is the show.

Media will never let a non-Nike player win FMVP.

They were doubling steph even off of kd. Ty lue himself admitted steph was the head of the snake.
I'm not sure kd saw many doubles all series long.
Kd was amazing though and did what he was supposed to do and take advantage of 1 on 1 matchups and rotating defenses.
As long as teams continue to double steph even at the expense of leaving kd , steph won't win a fmvp.

Let's put it this way, we have a better chance beating the cavs with Curry and w/o Durant than with Durant and w/o Curry.

yep. That's what it boils down to. Instead of celebrating an amazing duo of players, they celebrated KD and his mom. Nike rules the sports world.

Curry is more valuable. Watch any play that he doesn't touch the ball vs Durant not touching the ball and you'll see why.

Lots of Curry arguments, but KD winning the poll. Any KD voters care to refute the points made about Curry so far?

Re: MVP of the Warriors: Curry or KD?
Durant 35ppg, 8.4 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.6 bpg, 1.0 spg on 21.6 shoots per game
Curry 27 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 9.4 apg, 2.2 spg on 18.2 shoots per game
Curry is far ahead of Durant with 3-4 hockey assists per game, 2-3 screen assists, also open the floor for easy dunk for Durant.
So Curry averages 9.4 + 3.5 + 2.5 = ~16 assists per game without counting the open dunks while guarding him on the perimeter.
He averages 27 ppg on ~63% TS. If we remove his 5 I think half court shots at the buzzer (because he doesn't protect his % like the other sueprstars), it is 66% TS. If 27 points per game + ~20 assists per game is not the main force on the Warriors, I don't know what it is
Also in the all 5 games Cavs tried to stop Curry as much as they can - not Durant, but Curry. Media wrote the narrative about Durant and they don't even mention Curry, it seems like he is Klay Thompson type of player. Just because Durant scores more points and Curry is doing the playmaking job doesn't mean Durant is the better player.

KD: exploiting mismatches; strong finish inside the paint; elite perimeter shooting; elite defense
Curry: elite playmaking; GOAT shooting; sneaky finish inside the paint; alright defense
I think their values to the warriors are about the same (I accidentally voted for KD because I thought the poll is only about final's mvp, not warrior's mvp)

Re: MVP of the Warriors: Curry or KD?
Curry played better than Durant for the first three rounds. But Durant was on another level in the Finals.
Its hard to tell who is more valuable. Reminds me of Kareem-Magic.
There is no right answer. Both are important.
But we can't forget that KD wasn't able to lead a team to a Championship without Steph. And Steph already proved he could. With a team that wasn't as talented as KD's.

Re: MVP of the Warriors: Curry or KD?
KD was flat out amazing in the finals. But I thought it shouldve been Curry. The second Curry steps off the floor the offense goes from an all time great offense to an average offense. Im also not shocked that the 1 bad game Curry has the Warriors lose. GS all season, all playoffs and all finals went as Curry went. KD had the better stats for sure, but I thought Curry was easily the most valuable.
If there were a year to give co FMVP, it wouldve been this year.

KD is easily FMVP. Curry is the most important player to the Warriors to people that actually understand basketball, and it's not really close. This isn't a slight on KD, it's just a testament to what Curry offers to the team with his play style.

FYI - the question is overall MVP of the Warriors. KD is obviously finals MVP.

Oh crap, I did the same thing. In that case, yeah, I give MVP of the team to Curry for sure.
