Mitchell is a lot more wild than George Hill from what I've seen. Hill is a very smart and smooth player whereas Mitchell is more like a bull in a china shop. He is a volume shooter who uses his athleticism to make something happen.
Regardless, I hope he falls to a team that doesn't try to make him into feature player right away. Guys who can be really good role players can have their development ruined when teams try to make them into stars.

It also doesn't mean that he can't be a more functional athlete.
I think it's pretty simple why Jackson didn't start: Kennard and Grayson Allen were leading the team. They're fantastic college players that will be terrible NBA players. Frank Jackson was a good college player that will be a better NBA player.
I disagree. I would love for the local kid to be signed by the local team and be great, but I don't think he will. I think that he isn't big enough to effectively play SG and doesn't have the innate PG skills to play PG. Unfortunately, I think that he is fools gold.
He's the same size as Austin Rivers and is bigger, stronger and more athletic... I think he'll be just fine.
Like, if he's Austin Rivers in the league, that's a major success.

Jazz don't need 2 draft picks at the end of the 1st round.
They should try packaging pick #24 and #30 and move up for Portland s #20 if Harry Giles looks to be available.
Giles if he gets his athleticism back from 2 ACL surgeries Giles will be a draft steal and one of the best draft picks from this year.
Giles is long and lean and get his legs back playing behind Gobert .Jazz need to target Giles and swoop in trying to trade up if Giles is getting close to late teens or early 20's pick.

He shoots a bit like Klay Thompson IMO. Just like thompson, he shoots if from any weird position with feet set or not, with preparation or without one. Whether he has someone right in his face or not. Incredibly quick release. I know this will sound sacrilegious but his release might be quicker than Steph's. But that's been known for a while now.
What has been a revelation this year is his 2pFG%... I have no idea if he will be able to do this on NBA floor, but with all the athleticism worries, he's shooting freaking 69% from the 2p range. I have no idea how he does it. It must be all smart cuts, IQ, and craftiness around the rim.

I would have to be pretty sold on Giles already having regained his athleticism before even thinking about that trade and even then I would be very hesitant. This draft is loaded and I definitely want to keep both picks.

The player in this draft that reminds me most of Hill is Derrick White. Similar size, athleticism and overall game. I could easily see him being the steal of the draft.

I actually really disagree with this. I think we really do need 2 late first rounders this year. It's a deep draft, so you'll have some great options at 24 and 30. Both of those guys, you'll need to contribute minutes in the next 3 years, and you control their contract for the next 6 or so years. That's a massive deal for a team that's going to be hurting for cap space (or potentially going into another rebuild)
If anything, I think the Jazz should try and get another pick in the late first round. There's soooo many solid prospects to be had between 24-38. Might as well load up while the value is good.

The Jazz need both picks just for the contracts. I still don't think people recognize the cap crunch we are in. They'll be shocked to see how many players are gone in a couple season due to money issues.
Having no old cap contracts is a very bad place to be right now.

I'm all in on a Vezenkov pick. That guy is going to be a sniper. I just don't want to hear people crying to get X young guy more playing time. Vezenkov would be a perfect three point specialist off the bench. He looks pretty ground bound and I don't know if he can defend NBA wings for long stretches.

The problem is, he doesn't seem like he wants to move to the NBA right away. He's saying he wants to play and develop his game in Europe for a year or two more before trying his luck in the NBA.

Even better! The Jazz have 4 picks. They need to stash some guys.

I'm gonna throw out something just to see what you guys think - Dave Joerger is Sacramento's coach. Just how much do you think he will be willing to pay for Rodney Hood? No. 10? Or should we hold out for no. 5?

Good question. I don't know if you could get 10 for Hood straight up, but if you add the 24th you might get some interest.
Why would Sacramento want Hood?

Dave Joerger! He has somewhat of a major crush over Hood. He kept gushing over him and repeating how much he regretted his GM passing on him(when Hood was the player Joerger wanted) every chance he got and after every game vs the Jazz. At some point they seemed to have forbidden him to talk about Hood after one of our games vs Memphis. LOL.
https://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--grizzlies-fire-head-coach-dave-joerger-133415083.html
Joerger has expressed his displeasure with a series of personnel moves, including the 2014 drafting of Jordan Adams over Rodney Hood
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/15234297/how-grit-n-grind-defines-grizzlies-better-worse
AT A PREGAME availability in Memphis against Utah in early March, the first question to Joerger was posed by Jazz beat writer Aaron Falk. What does Joerger think of Hood's game, and what specifically has surprised him?
Joerger looked like he had been pulled over for going 37 in a 35, annoyed but obligated to make nice. A couple of Memphis reporters giggled nervously.
"Did somebody ask you to ask that?" Joerger replied.
The notably candid Joerger gave an uncharacteristically canned response.
"He's a heckuva player and keeps getting better and better," Joerger said. "He's a good player."
Joerger paused, struggling to explain why he is playing this one so safely: "I don't really want to touch that. I've been told to stay away from that."
The truth is, Hood had become a vessel of Joerger's frustration with the Memphis front office over what he sees as an inability to assemble the right supporting cast and insufficient consultation with him on roster construction. Joerger loved Hood from the moment he emerged as a prospect for the 2014 draft: A long, rangy, high-IQ shooting guard who drained 42 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc at Duke.
The front office liked Hood too -- sources say he was next up on the draft board -- but just a smidge less than UCLA's Jordan Adams, another shooting guard with good range and creativity whom the Grizzlies ultimately selected with the No. 22 overall pick.
Adams has endured two knee surgeries and has yet to play meaningful minutes, while Hood has tormented Joerger.
In the final week of last season, Hood notched his fourth consecutive big game with 18 points in a narrow Memphis win.
"Love, love, love Rodney Hood," Joerger announced to the scrum. "I think he's going to be a very good player in this league."
Hood torched the Grizzlies for career-high 32 points in an overtime Jazz win in January. As if to rub it in, he drilled five of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc. No Grizzly had hit more than four 3-pointers in a game all season at the time.
"Too much Rodney Hood tonight," Joerger said postgame.
The Memphis brass is confounded by the idea that they're willfully ignoring the need for long-range shooting. Over the past few seasons, they've acquired Courtney Lee, Vince Carter, Matt Barnes and Mario Chalmers, each of whom has enjoyed varying degrees of success from deep. And they'll concede they haven't been as successful as they've needed to be on the margins.
"Of course we want shooters," says Ed Stefanski, Grizzlies executive vice president of player personnel. "An 'oh, s---' shooter would be a helluva weapon for us, but they're not easily had. It makes me laugh when people act like we're ignoring shooters. You think we're not looking?"

I would be down with trading Hood for number 5 or 10, with Gay opting out they really need a SF.

Right, but outside of Joerger, does it make sense for the Kings? I mean, they're in full rebuild mode and just traded for Hield. I get that they have to use their money but is Hood the guy? And do they want Hood badly enough that they're going to move a top 10 pick for him?
And I'm not saying that it's not an interesting idea, I'm just trying to see it better from the Kings position.

Well, they need a SF in the worst possible way, I don't know if Joerger would think Hood would be able to play SF. He's also just coming into his prime and the Kings will have a ton of capspace, so they will be able to give Hood money next off-season.
Lets say they take a PG at 5 and Isaac, Markkanen, JJ, Tatum are all gone ... I can see them evaluating Hood as a better option than anyone on the board.
