I was hoping that we could keep him for 1 more year to at least load up on talent this draft and have him and his connections in Europe for 1 more season, but he may be gone soon.

Would be a huge loss. I'd agree if not here, he's gone within a year for one of these openings.

The consensus all along was Zanik would get the job, the way this has played out maybe shows a lack of confidence in him, but here's hoping they stick with their guy.

How does this change the Nuggets' plans/outlook for the draft/FA/trade?

I'm guessing it doesn't. I am thinking the Bucks offered Karnisovas the job, and the Kroenkes matched it for once. It tells me he wants to be here, that the team really wanted him to stay, and that the Kroenkes are still trying to be cheap and only pay up when they have to.

I don't think they had any intention of letting him leave and were planning on him being here the entire time, so I am sure that they have had hi involved the whole time.

We credit Connelly with some great Euro-picks (perhaps a little too much credit, but with Jokic, I'll still praise his Euro-picks  ). I hope that Connelly or whoever else remains involved in the draft. What I'm unsure of is Karnisovas' ability to manufacture a trade or two that will help shape this team. I'm also unsure of how this might affect the lack of a G-League team. I just don't see enough history to get a feel, but as much as the front office has dissatisfied me, they have also not made any major screw-ups in my mind (except for the two years before Malone  ).

I think this is a great sign, especially after the way they just watched Ujiri walk out the door. It shows how much they value and trust this current regime and that vote of confidence goes a long way. It also tells me they're happy with the direction the team is headed in and less likely to make a short term move. Give Josh some credit too, it takes some humility to give up the President title just to keep Karnisovas on board.

I'd bet Karnisovas gets a bit more say in transaction matters, but other than that, I doubt their individual roles will change much. TC/Josh/AK seemed to make decisions as a team, and it sounds like that'll continue.

I like the move, Arturas deserves it, keeps a valuable asset and brings continuity with the draft just a week away.

Also, seems to me there is an opening for a new assistant GM <cough>Chauncey<cough>

Well played move by the Kroenkes... A clear sign that they want to actually win here in my mind. Also makes me fee like Connelly might be on the hot seat this year if things don't go well as Arturus will surely push him to make things happen. This seems like a move to create/keep good depth in the front office.

This is interesting. When the Raptors hired Masai Ujiri as their GM, they gave Bryan Colangelo the President title as well... But shortly afterwards they let him go. Maybe it's just a less messy way of firing someone.

I wouldn't read to much into it, Arturus has been here basically since Connelly got here, it was a move to stop him from leaving to Milwaukee for a bigger title.

Our front office has long had multiple voices, and at 1 time we had 3 guys who were all responsible for player movement, this front office seems to work well on drafting, had some good and bad trade, and hopefully we will see some good things with free agents.
