Yeah, guess it is a done deal.....

If it was a done deal, he was promised already, he wouldnt be working out with the Lakers again.

A lower team promising JJ may have intrigued the Lakers and they want to reevaluate and JJ wants the Laker possibility so he works out anyway?

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

I'm happy with us Laker fans having issues which one of these talented players are we going to draft rather than talking how we lost the pick last lottery.

only team josh jackson workout for is the lakers in Sacramento and he hasn't work for 76ers ,suns, and Celtics. He probably workout for the kings but who knows but he did cancelled a workout with celtics yesterday.

My guess is its the Kings. I dont know if they have a trade lined up with the 76ers for the 3rd pick though. Maybe its contingent on if JJ is available or Ball is available at that spot. 76ers would have to be okay with the Suns picking Fox/DSJ in front of them. Or maybe Heild and #10 for the #3?

His camp has stated a promise was received and would not do workouts for other teams. The Lakers are the only team that have seen his workout in the top 3. He is declining workout with the Suns and celtics because of the promise. I'm sorry but this second workout sounds like a formality.

Yeah it sucks. I think Lonzo is the better player and fit however it is well known that Magic and Pelinka have put a huge emphasis on being in shape and maybe they didn't like the fact Lonzo got winded in his workout. Maybe they didn't like his leadership comments that can be perceived as a slight to Russell by some. Maybe Magic does not want to deal with other egos around like Lavar when Magic has one of his own. Maybe they love Jackson's ceiling more. Jackson was after all the top high school prospect on most boards last year

For me, it makes less sense for the Lakers to be giving out promises at position they are in and for a team to rework out a player they already made a promise to than if JJ elected to work out with the Lakers again because the Laker destination for him is more appealing than the current one he was promised.

Ok so I keep hearing different opinions of what position JJ will play in the NBA. Is it the 2,3, or 4

Someone explain to me how the Lakers promising a draftee with their 2nd pick makes sense. How does that benefit them at all?

He's a 3 whom you hope develops into a point forward. He does have good playmaking abilities. Obviously whether or not he becomes a star is based on how his shooting develops.

teams make promises all the time. Nothing new. It is also a way to build a better relationship with the agent. Something Pelinka would value.

He could probably guard 2-4 so as long as he can hit the NBA 3, he could play 2-4. JJ and Ingram can be flexible pieces within the offense and defense. Golden State has multiple players like them.

So they lock themselves in to a player in the middle of evaluation with the #2 pick so they can get brownie points with his agent?

Lost in all of this is how both Lonzo and Jackson have said no to workouts with the Celtics in favor of the Lakers.

They have the number 2 pick, it's not like they were going to be picking among 10 different players. Maybe they just really like Jackson.

All of this is super confusing. Why would we promise a player when we have the 2nd pick?
Why would we bring the player in for a second workout if we've already promised him?
Are we trying to make off with Ball AND Jackson? Surely, the cost is Russell which I'm totally ok with.
Is all of this just the biggest, darkest most effed up smokescreen you've ever seen?

It would really suck if we don't draft Lonzo.
