This is probably best case scenario imo.

George salary is 19.3 mill

Ab+crowder+rozier is 17.6 mill
Ab+crowder+smart is 20.1 mill

Better than CLEVELAND depending on whose on your bench.

For reference, Crowder dunked the ball 13 times all season, while Horford and Amir lead the team with 41 apiece.

The Celtics as a team had 211 dunks all season, so Hayward had a third as many dunks on the season as Boston's entire club.

Griffin FWIW had 68 dunks in 61 games, and has averaged about 1 dunk/game for the last three years, after being 2-3 dunks/game for the first four years of his career.

All this leads to Amir Johnson being the dunks/minute leader in the clubhouse last year, a bit of a depressing find.

Not saying I don't appreciate dunks, but all the dunks he did are functional more than spectacular, I surely appreciate expecially the play he finalizes with the cut in the blind side. That's a plus obviously but I gave up at the 30th dunk because they are all similar.

Crowder doesn't dunk much and is offensively limited, but he can still finish around the rim via cuts and driving closeouts. Having Hayward opens up more options on offense the way Horford did, but people are underestimating Jae's value on the team (led Cs in +/- last season). We can easily keep both. His tantrum/comments last January are overblown imo. If we want to keep Jae, I think this is the play:

Renounce Amir, getting under the cap. Renounce James Young, Gerald Green. Hill leaves Utah, they renounce Mack, Ingles, Withey, dropping them- I think, just barely, check the math, Hayward should have a 26 million-ish cap hold- under the cap. Both teams avoid BYC issues, and we send Olynyk at 12 million per, Jerebko at 12 million, 3 years, first year only guaranteed, they send Hayward.

We can do a few things then: re-sign Amir to an MLE deal, say, 2-3 years, 8.5 million. Probably closer to his value - we were overpaying to get him to take a short-term deal. Or MLE someone else. We also still have Zeller's non-guaranteed contract for 8 million, so we can combine that with Avery's money for a different player: Avery/Zeller for Vucevic, future 1st. Avery/Zeller/Smart-or-Rozier/Yabu for Jimmy Butler? Avery/Zeller/BKN 18 for Cousins?

It's early - and we saw what Deandre did to Dallas - but I think we're clearly the favorite. ddb knows people, and there are all kinds of back channel flirtations, too, like Durant with Golden State last year. All this coming out now is probably a way for Hayward's camp to signal his interest to Boston so we can make decisions with him in mind.

I think Miami could have a chance at Blake, and I think this could be a surprising free agent season. CP3 to San Antonio? Will Lowry bolt from Toronto? I could see Minnesota getting Paul Milsapp on the promise of long-term upside, I could see Phoenix and Philly luring veterans the same way. If CP goes to the Spurs, I think Oklahoma City tries desperately to dump Kanter+ on Brooklyn in order to sign Blake, or Doc tries desperately to get Kanter+ in a deal for Blake.

If you're Gordon Hayward, Utah isn't a great bet, he tried to leave before when they didn't want to max him. Favors and Exum haven't amounted to much, and George Hill is probably leaving. Miami isn't a contender, they traded away their firsts for Dragic; he can't go to Indiana and win; Dallas might make a strong pitch, but they don't have a long-term plan. Ferrell, Matthews, Hayward, Barnes, ancient Dirk, Noel is interesting, but capped out and with no picks.

We have a coach he knows, we've been improving every year, Fultz and Brown are much more promising than Exum, we have another lottery pick next year, we have a great system where his game will slot in effortlessly with spacing, off-ball movement, and passing, he'll have the most offensive help of his career. We're also, I think, the best team with cap space.

At the end of the day he would still play more minutes than whatever starting C we would have and he would always finish the game as a small ball 4. If he buys in he could be a major weapon for us. But I don't ever see him or Avery accepting this and I think eventually Marcus also leaves to try his luck as a starter somewhere.

Yeah..IT/Fultz/Smart/Brown/Crowder/Hayward seems like a bit much. Add Rozier who people seem to keep throwing away for cap relief, but I seriously believe Ainge values the guy and isn't going to get rid of him just because.. and it's even more. I'm still fully on keeping IT, Brown, adding Hayward and Fultz and turning some of the others into a Butler/George or a young big.
