Re: 2017 NBA Draft Thread: Lakeshow edition
Whether it's Jackson, Ball or someone else, this pick has to end up being a stud. I'm not saying a freshman out of college should be dominant right away, but at the very least, he should more than what Russel & Ingram have in their rookie year.
Three straight 2nd overall picks should at least produce a bonifide stud. Maybe I'm being impatient but four straight lottery seasons and all there is are middling young talent and overpaid role players.

Are you for real? Too Hollywood? Are you Amish or something?
SMH....Because that's the business the Lakers are in. Teaching lessons to Chino Hills kids and their dads.

The only players i know that we've worked out for the number 2 pick are Ball, Jackson, Fox, and DSJ. Jackson is so far the only player to get a second workout. The caveat to that though is that the first workout for Jackson was held under his own terms. Think more along the lines of a Pro Day workout.

We might be really going after Jackson. I'm happy with that. I remember during the season that our main gripe about the team was our defense. Jackson's defense will be a breath of fresh air for sure.
Dlo might be on his way out of the team though.

So what's our new working theory, that we're trading Russell to aquire JJ and lonzo?

Just looks like we're picking Jackson to me.

Oh yeah, no question Fox is a great interview. Every draftnik says it. On the court he is not a #2 pick in this draft tho imo.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion when Jackson plays the same position as Ingram. The last thing you want is Clarkson running the point and have no playmakers left on the roster.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Thread: Lakeshow edition
Don't want fox...
Do want to move Russell for Jackson straight up despite the lack of shooting.
I am banking on Ball still being able to drill from outside and Ingram improving to be more like his college and end of year numbers.
Jackson might be a bit better than advertised at shooting, but his horrible FT% isn't a positive predictor for accurate shooting.
Jackson reminds me a little of Ricky Davis on Offense. Which sounds worse than I mean it to.

Assets. Remember, Lakers might be thinking of tradeable assets to acquire the likes of Paul George. If Jackson is a better player, Lakers will draft him.

Well Ingram is not going to have a body of a SF just yet, so he can slide into the SG spot for the time being. Ingram shooting will improve I'm sure, and his length can provide a match up nightmare for opposing SGs. Ingram can also play some PG too since he's a good ball handler. Jackson natural position will be SF, but he can play SG as well. The defense between the two is more valuable IMO than having a backcourt of spotty defense with Lonzo/Dlo.
I only said Dlo going out is if we have another target in mind to fill the PG spot up via draft or through trade.

If that's the case then they would trade either Ingram or Jackson considering they play the same position as PG.

Josh Jackson missed free throws on purpose because he wants everything in life to be earned and not given to him.

If one of Jackson, Ingram become passable 3 pointshooters, I would love a lineup with Russell (Pg), Ingram, Jackson, George(wings) and Zubac (center). There wont be a lot of PFs who could abuse of those guys on the paint(if Ingram put on some muscle), and it would a nightmare for most teams to defend us.
