The possibility we could take Isaiah Canaan, I mean Monk at #3 is the only thing in the way of me booking my Vegas tickets.

C'mon. Monk is not Isaiah Canaan. Dude lit it up in big time games. He is easily the best shooter and scorer in the draft. That does not negate his defensive shortcomings, lack of size, etc. But I am pretty high on Malik. He's going to be a great player.

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball / '17 NBA Draft Thread IV
Isaiah Canaan was fantastic in college as well, has more size (stockier, more muscular) and also a 40-inch vertical. Malik Monk will certainly be better than Monk. But by how much? I've not heard any fan or commentator from any other team talk about how they want Monk.
If Monk can't defend point guards any better than Ben (or Isaiah), what's the point? Get someone who can shoot, but who also can guard multiple positions, or at least the point, instead of none.
That said, I'd be okay with Monk at #10. Just not at #3. My annual trip to Vegas is in jeopardy if we take Monk at #3.
Real question, if not the Sixers, on what squad would Malik Monk make a great impact? Orlando? New York?
Do you think Monk and Buddy Hield can shoot the lights out in Sacramento? Enough ballhandling, court vision?

You won't have to worry about that. Ball will be off the board by #3.

Former Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox will work out for the 76ers this weekend, tentatively set for Saturday, a source said Tuesday. Fox is one of the players the Sixers are considering to select with the third overall pick in the June 22 draft. He worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers, who will pick second, on Tuesday.

We've always been a big open gym team in terms of the draft but this year it's thanks for the interest but you can go visit other places.
Josh Jackson's agent said he would like him to workout for us. That was about 3 days ago or so, so it didn't appear there was any guarantee Jackson was given by any team at that time. I hope we do bring him in.
I haven't read the quote, but if his enthusiasm only rose to the "like" level, then I'd bet the Lakers said they will take him. Too nonchalant to not have a pretty good idea Jackson is going 2

I have come to realize no matter what happens I'm just not going to be really high or low either way. I think this whole draft class got way overblown.

So... If the Lakers promised Josh Jackson they'd take him last week, why would he have to work out for them again this week?

Lakers bringing in Ball for a second workout.
Meanwhile the Sixers are in "we'll get to it" mode.

Do you think it is a bluff?
I think Ball is the perfect pick for them, and that they will settle on him.
I have been on Jackson all year and I want him to last to 3. I have Ball a hair behind him and would happily take him, but I want Jackson, and still think that he will be there.

Maybe Luke Walton is locked into his pick and roll scheme and isn't interested in implementing the Golden State offense in L.A. afterall. If that's the case, Lonzo is a way better fit in Boston or Philly, anyway. The added benefit of living across the country from his pops would be good for him, as well.

I know workouts don't matter a ton, but it just looks incompetent that we are way behind on the workouts.

Yea BC is operating in much the same way Hinkie did it seems like. Makes me think that's just how ownership wants business run.

It would seem smart to me that you meet each guy last and watch him workout after he's been through the ringer with other teams. You get to see stamina, and you get a final look at them just before it's time to make a decision. Plus, if the top 2 teams do happen to make any promises prior to you working the guy out, you don't fall in love too early, AND it allows you to only work out the guys who will be there when you pick.

Idk about that, but I would take DSJ over Jackson at 3. Jackson in PHI is a worse player than Jackson in LA. The odds that he'll ever be an above league average shooter on high volume are very low. The fact that the Kris Dunn fanclub is in love with him strengthens that belief of mine. Older players who haven't improved their shooting are en vogue on this board.
