Therefore I don't think that Jrue-report tells an awful lot about their intentions re draft night. Maybe they have changed their mindest compared to that Larkin-year, but I'd be surprised tbqh.
Besides: the good thing about Jrue is that one of his biggest strengths is that he's so versatile on the floor. Not only does he play both ends, he's also capable of doing a variety of things on offense that make it a lot easier to build functioning lineups with him. E.g. I think him an Ntilikina would be a really good fit as both can run a PnR properly, have BBIQ/courtvision, but can also play off-ball. Imo that has a lot of appeal going forward. Imo Jrue (not taking the whole money-thing into account here) is exactly the type of player that makes sense loading up on for us: multipositional, skilled, two-way players with good size for their position(s), who work in most lineups due to their versatility to play on and off the ball and who are young enough to stick around for 3-5 years. I think Jrue fits all these molds and therefore is highly intrigueing as non-Superstar-but-high-quality-and-versatile-ish building block.
The only draftee where I'd truly say it doesn't make sense to bring Jrue in on top is probably Dennis Smith bc he's extremely ball-dominant. But in that case I'd happily pick up DSJ and start figuring out ways of how to build around such a PG effectively.
