Still plenty of hours of tape to watch yet but Jarrett Allen is posing a very good case for being "my guy" of the draft.

de'aaron fox will be a hof'er, don't @ me

I have been holding out on my opinion, so I don't jinx us. I don't ever seem to guess right, when is comes to the draft. Although I was very pleased with last years draft as well as the pick for Booker the year before.
However I would love to see us get Ball in this draft as well as another big. I really do not care if it is Collins or Markkanen.
We need to start playing the right way. If Bledsoe is moved and we end up Ball and Ulis being our two PG's next season I think we will finally be headed in the right direction. If Alex Len is gone and replaced by either Collins or Markkanen our front court will be dramatically improved, especially in the future.
Now that I jinxed this scenario. Please make it happen.
Couldn't agree more about playing the right way. One of the most frustrating things over the last few seasons has been the hero ball and complete lack of ball movement. There is nothing wrong with a moderate amount of ISO ball. We just have absolutely no balance. We need to start putting the right pieces together.

Re: 2017 Draft Discussion Part 3 [New Poll]
Isaac, Jackson, Monk, Fox.... anyway we go its a talent infusion. Fit wise, if a Bledsoe deal is not already in stone on a 'if pick PG then trade Bled' scenario, you have to go with not necessarily the BPA, because they are pretty much even, but with the least disruptive fit. I would guess that leaves it to selecting Jackson because of his defensive versatility, or Isaac for his projected impact. Length and athleticism may trump other characteristics. Id think whoever we get, they will be embraced and should warrant some minutes. Its a dice roll anyway, and hindsight always wins.
Im not at all interested in Tatum, though he likely will be a pretty solid role player. Would rather take a little more risk for the reward.
the one wildcard shake up is if Ball falls to us.... then Id hope a Bledsoe trade is there for the taking... else we may select Ball for someone else and parlay some assets while ending up with may be Isaac and/or dare I say Markkanen or Collins?
PS.... I'm with you Bum

bwgood77 wrote:I still don't understand why Ford keeps saying DSJ needs to pass more. He averaged the second most assists of top pg prospects behind Ball.
Sure he also scored a lot, but he didn't have nearly as good as teammates as, say, Fox, who averaged 4.6 assists as opposed to DSJ's 6.2. The most in the ACC, more than point guards at top schools like Duke, NC, etc, with more really good players to pass to as well.
Yeah. It's actually funny how people are unfair and prone to apply double standards just to justify their (often overly) biased approach.
Smith Jr is a perfect example, especially when compared to Fultz, because they got so many similarities - both played for bad teams/with bad teammates, both had to create a lot for themselves, both had big usage, both are scoring first PG's with good rebounding for their position/size, both like to attack the rim and can absorb the contact, both have the same motivation issues on D, both like to play p'n'r and finish in transition, had almost identical AST% and 2FG% ... No need to mention he had four 10+ assist games as a freshman on a team such as Wolfpack. It's a trifle. You see it a dozen times every year.
And yet you see utter excitement and compliments flying around when there's discussing above mentioned related to Fultz, and when it comes to Smith Jr you can hear that he can't pass, that he's a ball stopper, can't really shoot, floats on D, whatever.

Tatum RN >> Issac RN
Tatum POT <<<<<< Issac POT
IMO it would be smart to take Issac over Tatum. Can't go wrong with that.

Let's ride out his contract, which isn't even that big an albatross by today's standards, and deal with it when the time comes. It'll be way cheaper getting rid of him by then as well.
The Brandon Knight situation is interesting to me. My take - based on my opinion as well as the fact that I read this forum religiously, therefore, I am a self proclaimed expert on the boards opinion

If you guys haven't checked out the latest BSoTS article, it goes over the potential of a Booker/Tatum offense.
http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2017/6/15/15794910/devin-booker-jayson-tatum-nba-draft-can-transform-the-phoenix-suns-offense
Basically everything I've been advocating in choosing Tatum and more. Pretty much solidifies my vote that the Suns should take Tatum and not think twice. Sure, Isaac could be the player everyone wonders why x many teams passed on him, or he could be the player that everyone wondered why the Suns chose him 4th overall.

I've not read it yet, but that is my fear. Lets say we roll the dice on Isaac and we miss. We also just rolled the dice on Bender last year, what if we miss there too. That's 2 #4 picks we would have whiffed on. We'd likely be looking at a new GM and a rebuild that's been pushed back several years. That is my worry with selecting Isaac. I'm glad I'm not the one that needs to make the decision.

McD's double-downing on draft picks last year may have us overlooking the Bender pick if Chriss turns into something special, but yeah we cannot afford to miss on such high picks.

Problem is....we just don't know and we are going to be as excited as we are afraid.....some of these guys will hit and some will miss and we know this. Sad state.
I'm cool with Tatum or Isaac (Jackson will be gone) and let the chips fall.......

I don't think you're the only two. It appears there are 43 just in this forum that would rather have Tatum than Isaac.

Re: 2017 Draft Discussion Part 3 [New Poll]
Some things to consider:
-The Lakers front office is a dumpster fire. Jeanie Buss is not the sharpest tool in the shed and Magic Johnson (while legendary for basketball reasons and community involvement) is incredibly stupid. I'd think the leaks coming out of their camp are legit. Both Jackson and Ball are "Magic" type players and I'd imagine they are torn over who to choose.
-Colangelo was always big on character guys. I'd imagine he has concerns about Ball and Jackson. Jerry wouldn't put up with Lavar for one second.
-The Suns still have the Kentucky connection and the fact that Fox has not worked out for us means nothing. It would not surprise me one bit if Ainge and McDonough were in Philly watching Fox and we kept it super quiet. We've done this before in past drafts and we have trade history with Philly.
-Fox is a McDonough pick. Freaky athletic and defensive oriented. Also happy, seems intelligent, and coachable. There is a reason Sacramento is worried we take him.
-Given some of the guys we have looked at, it would not surprise me one bit if we had a backup plan in place to acquire another pick in the 6-10 range.
-Minnesota is our most likely trade partner in the top 10. They are the only ones close to making the playoffs. If we take a PG at #4, chances are very high that one of Issac/Jackson/Tatum will be around at #7

I know we been beating this dead horse trade rumor, but I would trade the No 4 pick, the 2018 Miami pick for No 5 and No 10. No clue who I'd draft at 10, maybe DSJ or Frank Nitlaksdfa.
Oh and Dx changed their mock draft and has Tatum at No 4 now.

How about this link too?
http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/prospect-profile-jayson-tatum
Throughout the season, Tatum displayed effective defensive tools. With Duke relying on a man-defense heavy scheme, opponents, according to Synergy Sports calculations, managed to deposit just 32.2 percent of their shots taken against Tatum, and were held to 0.72 points per possession.
Perhaps if Isaac is gone and Tatum is available for the Magic, The Magic could be just fine with drafting Tatum. So you guys might want to take Tatum.

Re: 2017 Draft Discussion Part 3 [New Poll]
Regarding the Lakers:
If the Lakers really offered a salary dump of Deng and #2 in exchange for #4, then LOOK OUT! That means that they are clearing cap space for a new big 3. Perhaps CP3 this year, #4 for PG3, and someone else next year. How crazy would it be if CP3 and PG3 wind up in LA this summer and the Lakers make the playoffs this year? McDonough would be saved from that horrible BK trade.
I just doubt that the Lakers front office has the brain power to pull this (see last paragraph) off. Although...worth mentioning...Jeanie and Magic would be like a lame duck president. That would be perfect for GM LeBron. Bron Bron and CP3 could pull the strings with Jeanie and Magic being empty suits.
