OT: Camera Obscura (aka I made a movie)

Post#1 » by Cammo101 » Mon Jun 5, 2017 6:05 pm

Hey guys, this has come up once or twice over the years on this board, but when I'm not arguing with you guys about all things Magic, I'm part of a film production company out of Austin called Paper Street Pictures. We came together about 5 years ago and made a few pretty popular short films, and now finally our first feature film is set to be released next week. I co-wrote and co-produced it with some crazy talented people and am really proud and excited for people to finally get a chance to see it. It comes out in a few theaters (in NY, LA, and Austin) on June 9th and on VOD and iTunes and all the digital platforms on June 13th. It played at the Florida Film Fest about a month ago, so someone on here may have caught it when it played there.

Here is a link to the website with the trailer for everyone to check out...

http://www.cameraobscurafilm.com/

Hope everyone digs the trailer, and if you want to check out the film once it's released, I'd love to hear what you think.

Nice trailer, I love the title as well. Horror/drama movies are my thing so I'll definitely have a look.

Very well done. I'm in the industry too. Used to edit a lot of trailers, and yours is very good, it's got a nice set up and build to the end. There's some shots I would have presented differently but that's just a creative difference not a critique. Nice job, it looks like an interesting film. I'd check it out. Since your an industry guy, this link is a character bio for a web series I've been working on...called Beyond Scope. I'm the producer/screenwriter on this

Were currently shooting the pilot. We've started test screenings but we're in the middle of some reshoots. Hoping it'll be completely ready by September.

Nice one man, looks full on. I'll be sure to check it out at some point. Was this based off a Stephen King short story or something?

No, it's an original script. The evil camera trope has been done a few different times, most notably by The Twilight Zone and Goosebumps, but our version goes in a pretty different direction from those.

For anyone who may be interested, Camera Obscura comes out in Redbox today. So if you want to check it out, this is about as cheap as it's gonna get.

If you do rent it, let me know what you think. Hope you dig it.

I checked out your film. I dug it. I watch a ton of independent films mostly the week they come out on DVD. Many good and many bad even this week alone I saw 5. Yours was 2nd out of the 5. There were some bad ones. Anyways, I dug the production. It could be a little better but that will happen with experience. I think the background music and sound effects were mixed well while a few actors didn't impress me. Main characters were nicely acted. Most of the characters were done well while there were a few moments where the quality dipped low in a few scenes. But, for a first full feature, the story was well done and production were above the average threshold for me. Good luck with your feature endeavors. I will check out your next film.

Thanks. Glad you dug it.
