Too bad New Orleans doesn't have anything we'd want besides AD/Cousins to a lesser extent, I'd like to see what a Holiday/Bradley/Crowder/Davis/Cousins lineup could do in the West.

Re: Summer Trade Thread 2017
I'd pass on that deal for Love. If you play a team like CLE in the playoffs, you're likely looking at LeBron at the 4. A front court of Love and Horford would get eaten alive. Same goes for GS. Who's guarding Durant?
Plus, it gives CLE exactly what they need, making them harder to beat.
And I don't like the Drummond idea, either. It would force Horford to the 4 and we'd continue to have match-up problems.
We need to be looking for someone more athletic at the 4 who can rebound. Blake would be interesting. A small ball lineup with PG13 would probably work too, although that wouldn't help the rebounding.
I'd rather go up against CLE with IT/Bradley/Hayward/Crowder/Horford with Fultz, Smart, Brown, KO and Yabu/Zizic than have to face Kyrie/Bradley/Crowder/Lebron/Thompson with a lineup of something like IT/Hayward/Brown/Love/Horford

The idea was that locking him in at 23 million, age 23, would be better than paying 20-25 million to Bradley and 6-7 million to Crowder. He still has upside, and even though he'd hurt our spacing, he's a dominant rebounder, potentially a dominant defensive player, and potentially a dominant roll man. If you have IT/Fultz, Brown, Hayward and Horford around him, the bet is that his weaknesses get papered over and his strengths stand out.
It's also a question of - do we want to be a poor man's Golden State, IT as the Curry, Hayward as the Durant, Horford the Dray Green, betting on the 2-3 potential superstars growing on our bench? Or do we want to have all that, and bet on Drummond dominating the boards and dunking over the Warriors' small-ball line-up? He's probably never going to get a perimeter shot, but is the loss to our pacing/spacing potentially outweighed by the blocks, boards, and high percentage shots at the rim?

Small trade that might work if Giles or someone else slips: Rozier for OKC's 21st pick.

Smart? Gotta include him. He is going no where (I hope).
I'm hoping he does.I'm not a "Smart" lover, but i wouldn't mind him staying on the team as a backup 1-2-3 type. Hustles, good team guy & if we can limit his offense i'd be real happy with him.
He's not what we were hoping for as a 6th pick, but if we keep IT & Fultz around, i think Smart can help them out a lot so i won't mind that as long as he knows his role & price reflects that.
Your not wanting Smart at all? Lol
Nope. Not. At. All.

Bobby Marks doubling-down on the Rozier/Crowder/Zeller for Paul George trade idea.
We need to get this guy back into the league running a front office.

The rule of thumb in the NBA is not to risk assets for a player with an expiring contract.
Regarding George, that might need to be reconsidered.
The best way to court a free agent-to-be is to have him for a full season.
If acquired, Boston would also have some leverage, owning George’s Bird rights and having the ability to offer a fifth year.
While the first-round picks from the Nets in 2017 and 2018 should be off the table, the Celtics have depth at point guard, small forward and with other draft picks.
A combination of Terry Rozier, Jae Crowder and Tyler Zeller presents value for a Pacers team that could lose George for nothing in free agency.
Each player would bolster a position of need for the Pacers.
With the likely addition of Fultz and the emergence of rookie Jaylen Brown, Boston has the depth to minimize risk if George were to leave in free agency.

So Blake at the 4 doesn't cause "match-up problems". I am confused by this logic. Horford is a much better P&R defender than Blake

Hard to argue looking at his career to date. Remember though, Stevens turned Jordan Crawford into a 1st. Stevens also took Evan Turner from outcast to $18M a year.

Value wise I don't think that's totally insane. Who's in the trade market for George? There are probably 3-4 teams, at best, that could resign him. One would be Golden State, and he'd worsen their tax bill, so they're out. Two would be Cleveland, and they could offer Love, but they have no young talent, so Indiana may not like that return. Three would be the Lakers, and they probably don't offer much unless they end up in a bidding war with a team they fear could resign him, and even then they may just want to keep their cap-space clear will all the LeBron to LA rumors....
We're the fourth team, so I don't think we'd be bidding against any great offers. The only thing keeping Indy from having no choice but to trade PG is the chance he qualifies for the DVPE, which is probably in the 30-60% range.

Even with his contract situation that is AMAZING value, not even including it would keep him from the Cavs.

Pretty sure that is the type of trade offers LA has been making all over the league the past few years.

How much would James Johnson be willing to take in order to come to Boston? MLE money? I hear 15+ mil but I can't imagine anybody offers him that much. Would be an amazing piece off the bench for us.
