He's a good player though. For the right price I'd love to bring him in..

With the cap not rising as much as previously thought and teams not wanting to do into Tax range of they dont feel they can beat GSW or Cavs I'm wondering if these FAs will be looking for deals that won't be there.

I know this is trade is fantasy land, but how far off would this 3-team deal between us, the Cavs and the Knicks be?

Boston out: Bradley, 18 1st BOS, 19 1st MEM
Boston in: Porzingis

NY out: Porzingis, Melo
NY in: Love, J.R Smith, 18 1st BOS, 19 1st MEM

Cleveland out: Love, Smith
Cleveland in: Melo, Bradley

Boston gets a much needed big and could possibly afford to bring in Hayward, as well.

NY gets out from under Melo's contract while getting an All-Star caliber player in Kevin Love to replace Porzingis and what could turn out to be a really nice draft pick in the 19 MEM 1st.

Cleveland surrounds LeBron with an upgrade in scoring with Melo and defense in Bradley.

Three would be the Lakers, and they probably don't offer much unless they end up in a bidding war with a team they fear could resign him, and even then they may just want to keep their cap-space clear will all the LeBron to LA rumors....

We're the fourth team, so I don't think we'd be bidding against any great offers. The only thing keeping Indy from having no choice but to trade PG is the chance he qualifies for the DVPE, which is probably in the 30-60% range.

"Value wise I don't think that's totally insane"

Even with his contract situation that is AMAZING value, not even including it would keep him from the Cavs.

It's worth the risk, but if he walks in a year they win the trade easily.

If you had Porzingis on your roster, would you trade him for that package?

I wouldn't. New York clearly wouldn't. Can't imagine they would want anything to do wth JR either.

Hope Millsap is an emergency back up plan.

Getting him here on a two year deal, if Blake/Hayward doesn't work out, would be nice.

Why would the Knicks trade Anthony And Porzingis, and then bring in Love and Smith. What good are the future number ones... they will never rescue that Knicks team. Besides Smith has burned his bridges with the Knicks, and the Knicks with him.

I wish there was a way to get Porzingis... I prefer him over every star that ever gets mentioned. But I assume he's not available or, if so, for a much higher price than suggested in the above post--and esp to us.

No thanks. the Horford & Millsap combo never worked against Cleveland in the past. it's certainly not going to now

We need to get this guy back into the league running a front office.

The rule of thumb in the NBA is not to risk assets for a player with an expiring contract.

Regarding George, that might need to be reconsidered.

The best way to court a free agent-to-be is to have him for a full season.

If acquired, Boston would also have some leverage, owning George’s Bird rights and having the ability to offer a fifth year.

While the first-round picks from the Nets in 2017 and 2018 should be off the table, the Celtics have depth at point guard, small forward and with other draft picks.

A combination of Terry Rozier, Jae Crowder and Tyler Zeller presents value for a Pacers team that could lose George for nothing in free agency.

Each player would bolster a position of need for the Pacers.

With the likely addition of Fultz and the emergence of rookie Jaylen Brown, Boston has the depth to minimize risk if George were to leave in free agency.

Deal is more plausible if it's Crowder, AB and Rozier for George. Boston would have about $25 mil of cap space left...

Insider: Unwavering Paul George makes it clear: ‘I’m a Pacer.’

“I’m under contract as a Pacer. That’s all that needs to really be known. I’m here. I’m a Pacer. Again, what I’ve been dealing with is stories. You guys talking or teams talking. I’m a Pacer. There’s no way around that. This is my team, my group and this is where I’m at. I don’t talk to LeBron at all. We don’t communicate. I look up to LeBron, obviously. He’s been a tremendous ambassador to this game. He’s been a very huge influencer for me outside of the game, but we don’t communicate and figure out where one another’s going. Again, what I’ve always been preaching, more so than you see now, is having guys I can win with. Wanting to win, it came from the heart and it’s very sincere on wanting to bring that to Indiana. That’s where my heart is going to always be at. It’s all about bringing a championship to Indiana.”

My crazy idea:

BOS trades: Isaiah Thomas, 2018 BKN pick
BOS receives: #2

BKN trades: Brook Lopez
BKN receives: Luol Deng, Timofey Mozgov, Corey Brewer, 2018 BKN pick

LAL trades: Luol Deng, Timofey Mozgov, Corey Brewer, #2
LAL receives: Isaiah Thomas, Brook Lopez

Boston decides they don't want to pay IT and adds another long-term young piece (Jackson) next to Fultz and Brown, while they bet on Hayward or Griffin still signing even without IT staying in the team.
Brooklyn takes on two really bad contracts and trades away their best player to receive back their next year's pick to finally start their rebuild.
LA decides to trade their pick together with two of the worst contracts in the league for an All-Star and a really good center and immediately improves and with the addition of Corey Brewer into the trade they create needed cap space for a max contract.

Thoughts?

Zero chance Brooklyn gets their pick back for Lopez and taking contracts.

Man, I always feel like, if that player gets to be coached by The Brad Stevens and gets to be loved by us...they won't leave. I do not have the link, but I feel like Ainge has said this in the past, that he would take the 1 year left "risk".
