This trade has the potential to look extremely bad in a few years. The Lakers will be a bottom 5 team next season. That gives them about a 30% chance of landing a top 3 pick. So we could be giving up Jackson and one of Porter/Ayton/Bamba. That in addition to yet another Sixers pick. The inclusion of the LA pick was already a no for me, but this is a hell no.

I agree...we have to be getting another piece back (i.e. Smart or Bradley) in order for this to be fair. Granted, the 2019 PHI pick will likely be in the 20's, but still...

Edit: That #2 pick + Randle offer is laughable compared to #3 + LAL pick. It could also be BOS trying to increase BC's offer.

Man, I hope this happens! Fultz and Jackson are my favorite players in this draft. Fultz is certainly the better fit and may even be the better prospect. Of course only time will tell with that, but "Fultz" in Philadelphia just has a really cool sound to it.

sixers238 wrote:If we give up 3 picks for one, then it's a total overpay IMO. There's little evidence that Fultz will be that much better of a player than Jackson or Ball. If we sent out #3, LAL 1st, and a future PHI 1st then I'm expecting a piece back from Boston (i.e. Smart). Otherwise, it's a total overpay.

BOS out: #1, BKN 2018 1st, Smart
BOS in: Butler

CHI out: Butler
CHI in: #3 (Jackson), BKN 2018 1st, LAL 2018 1st, OKC 2020 1st, Okafor

PHI out: #3, LAL 2018 1st, OKC 2020 1st, Okafor
PHI in: #1 (Fultz), Smart

We then roll out:

This is a good deal for everyone. Chicago jump starts their rebuild. Boston gets a star that fits well with IT. The sixers get a 3rd star in a position of need. Now we should trade with Sac to get #5 to get Isaac. Also, we should try to trade for D Wade, if he wants to leave Chicago.

Fultz/Bayless/TJ
D Wade/TLC/Stauskas
Simmons/Covington/Anderson
Isaac/Saric/Poythress
Embiid/Holmes/Long

That should be a playoff team?

This is probably typical Stephen A Smith BS, but he says the Sixers want Jackson if they trade up

I think Sixers shoulda stayed at the 3rd pick. Fultz can't play defense. He performed against not so good college teams, struggled at times vs Oregon, Ucla and Arizona. I just think Sixers shoulda stayed at the 3rd pick, take one of the BPA available and thats a good fit with the Sixers.

If the sixers trade up to get who would be there at 3 anyways JC and BC should both be hung from their eyelids and kicked in the nuts until they blink.

My best offer would be #3 plus the worst of LAL/PHI 2018 and the worst of SAC/PHI 19.
It's two more first round picks unprotected. Deal with it.

Is that BC countering with #3 and future sixers pick... Or accepting having to give up #3 AND Lakers 2018, but balking at Sac19 so substituting a future Sixers pick?

If he already is agreeing to include the Lakers18 and the holdup is how much more ONTOP of that.. This gonna be bad

Not sure if this has been posted already... but very interesting.

Boston tweet out this image about the draft... and leave out Markelle Fultz. It's a done deal.

Reads to me that it's #3, LA pick and the hold up is Ainge wants the kings pick while BC is offering ours instead. If this goes through Fultz needs to be a top ten player in the league to come close to justifying that price tag. We've waited years for the LA pick to convey and now it's unprotected with the Lakers looking like a bottom 5 team. If that isn't enough to jump from #3 to #1 without the addition of another premium asset you walk away. BC needs to show he's willing to walk away or this is going to get ugly.

Maybe BC can get Bradley. It would help the Celtics to free up cap space and we need AB

Well, I figured they would do something like this when Jerry said Hinkie just ran out of time. They seem to have pushed the process to win quicker, and doesn't care if he has to use future resources to do so.

I do agree, if your at a car dealership, and the price is too high....walk away.

If we were about to get AB I would trade #3 + LAL Pick + 2019 unprotected + Sause + Okafor + Anderson for #1 + AB

"In 1993, the Magic traded the no. 1 pick (Chris Webber) for no. 3 (Penny Hardaway), and three future firsts (1996, 1998, and 2000). “I thought it was the greatest trade in history,” current Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told the Chicago Tribune in 1996. “I thought Penny Hardaway was the best player coming out of college that year. Straight up, I thought it was a pretty good trade, and still do. And three no. 1 picks? C’mon.”

Now you know what Ainge is going to do.

AB would be perfect. A great defensive SG that's a knockdown shooter. However, I would be surprised if Boston lets him go. He played a big part in their success.

Not one they'd actually be willing to part with.

However I know Ainge enough to know that he's willing to do something dumb like this.

He's prolly the onky gm in the league that's willing to trade the first overall pick without immeditley being a championship contender

I don't think Fultz is the generational, can't miss prospect that holds the huge #1 pick value. I'd love to have him, and he is the consensus top pick, but I think Ainge will come out on top if he gets more than one future first.

If any #1 pick was a "generational, can't miss prospect" there isn't a GM on the face of the planet that would trade the #1 pick... so that's kinda moot. You don't get many of those anyway.

Fultz is the perfect fit for this team with the guys we have... Ball and Jackson aren't. It makes absolute sense to go for him and throw in a future 1st rounder that may or may not be something in the future. You are much better getting the player you need now... rather than hoping all these variables go your way in the future and that the exact player you need is there in a future draft in the top 3.
