Re: 2017 NBA DRAFT Part 3
Anybody think Nigel Hayes could be a 5?
Couple more UDFA sleepers:
Sidy Djitte - potential bench 5?
Jordan Mathews - potential 3/D 2?

Re: 2017 NBA DRAFT Part 3
Donovan Mitchell trained for the Pacers and he mentioned in his interview about a 7ft that "Luke really shoots the ball well"
So I did some scouting and he was referring to Luke Kornet from Venderbilt ...
Luke Kornet broke the NCAA record on 3Ps made by a 7fter. (but on 32%, sophomore 41%)... last season 85.7%FT
At the following video Lakers workout he scores 24 points in 90 seconds, that is huge... Skip it to 01:40
I see gold with mud all over ... if his gets his body in shape he will do damage.
Nice prospect at #48 or nice Center for our G-League Team

Hayes is only 6'7" and doesn't have the athleticism or prowess to make up for his shortcoming like Draymond. He's a 4 who needs to fix his shot in the NBA. I'd sign him as a UFA, simply because you have nothing to lose.

He does have an over 7'3 wingspan but he does need to work on his body and motor along with defense
Would be a great lottery ticket that probably wont work out for the D-League

The guy I found impressive was in that video was Ben Moore. I believe he only missed one shot during that entire time. I had never heard of him though so I looked him up and was surprised to see that he only attempted (5) 3-pointers his entire college career. He did shoot an impressive 54% from the field overall though for his entire 4 years. Good shooter apparently. I wonder why so few 3s.

If there is one badger that I'd want on our d league team it's Zak. Smart tough players that play team D and communicate and keep the ball moving on offense.
A shooter like Matt Thomas would be great too.

Giles representation opted not to share his medical results, which clouds his draft status, and has left some to speculate he could be the target of his agent Jeff Schwartz's favorite team, and client Jason Kidd's team, the Bucks.

Nbadraft.net has us taking Bam at the moment. He has a lot of things we are looking for in a big man (physical rebounder, athletic, and mobile).
ESPN had him as the 5th best high school player coming out.

If BAM! is nothing more than "Biyombo" then that's a pretty damn solid pick at #17. He's way more skilled than Biyombo is though.

This type of player has a Tristan Thompson kind of ceiling in the modern NBA, and I think we can do better as far as ceilings go.

That's interesting. I've felt for a while that this offseason had been already planned out with some significant moves for Kidd guys, the puppet GM only kind of confirms it and so would a move like this. I'm ok with this though as long as he checks out medically

The unique thing would be pairing Hayes with Thon. So yes I think he could play the 5... on offense. And he'd play the 4 on defense since he has a freakish wingspan and should be able to play out to the perimeter. And vice versa for Thon. If he hovers around the paint, sets screens, dives to the rim and crashes the boards then that's all you need from a center on offense realistically so I think he's more than capable of doing that. No way can he play center on defense though, he'd get bullied around badly imho.
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis

He doesn't have a Tristan Thompson ceiling. He is a pretty high ceiling player. He has explosive athleticism, strength, length, and ball-handling skill. He also displays decent foundation for a jumper which Thompson never developed.
Adebayo is 1 and a half inches taller, same advantage on the wingspan, -0.5" on the standing reach, +3" on both standing and max verts, a sculpted 243 instead of soft 227. In college he shot 17% better from the line.
Don't know how this screams Tristan Thompson best case to you.
He has all-star potential. The question about him, unlike TT, is if he'll make the most of his potential. Don't know if he has a good head on his shoulders.

Re: 2017 NBA DRAFT Part 3
Yeah I agree on BAM, higher potential than TT. A lot of muscle but still has a 39 inch vertical. I doubt he becomes an all star but more likely is a very important role player. I would have been interested to see if he improved his rebounding and shot blocking numbers had he stayed another year. He can replace Monroe, high floor.

How close could he be to another Nene ?
Other than a shooter / creator, that type of player is sorely needed IMO

FWIW, I like the Schwartz/Excel prospects this year. So that wouldn't really bothered me if they went in that direction, on a micro-level. Of course on a macro-one it spells trouble.
IIRC, the Schwartz/Excel clients are Leaf, Derrick White, and Giles. I can see the merits in each of those guys. Leaf is a mid ceiling/high floor type. Giles is a boom/bust. White is a sleeper who could wind up being a factor on offense with his shooting/wiggle + size and defense with size + instincts. He didn't get recruited out of college, then had a big growth spurt, and was pretty darn impactful his only year in major d1.

Part of me thinks there was a promise that was given under Hammond, but then when they started back up the work outs looking at the centers that would likely be there at 17 it has me wondering if that went away when Hammond went away. Wouldn't shock me to see whatever Hammond had up his sleeve replaced by a Kidd plan though, and nothing is more Kidd plan than Schwartz.
