Surprised at the lack of Jordan Bell buzz here. I think he's the closest thing to Draymond Green in this draft, at least defensively.

If the Nets pass on the opportunity to draft Patton for Giles, imma be so disappointed

We have to disconnect Levert and his success from the stories of others. First, the doctor who performed CLV's surgery is affiliated with the Nets. We had confidence that our guy had done the best possible job and he made a compelling case that CLV shouldn't have any further issues.
I can't find info on who performed OG's surgery but the fact that his projected recovery for an ACL has gone from what should've been 6-8 months to 12-16 months is a bit alarming. Recovery time for ACL tears has been decreasing over the years as the science and rehabbing techniques have improved. I'd really like to know why OG will be out for so long before entertaining the idea of selecting him. The reason why he's dropping is not because he's being slept on; it's because something might have gone wrong.

For what it's worth
It wouldn't surprise me if the Celtics wind up with Okafor + Josh Jackson. Regardless, if the 76ers amass Fultz, Simmons, and Embiid this may wind up giving further credence to the Hinkie method, aka the gift that keeps on giving

And in 4 years they all come to Brooklyn because of our respectable culture. We can all thank Hinkie for all these gifts.

On Semi, he's been getting quite a few "Draymond" comparisons, but I just don't see it. Ojeleye looks like he could be a great defender, but didn't have the awareness and effort needed to be a real good defensive player/anchor. I think Draymond dropped in the draft because people were unsure of what his role would be in the NBA because his game and measurements were so weird. I like Ojeleye as a prospect, but I think he'll be more of a 3's and drives player and an ok small-ball 4.

In all likelihood Ainge is making a bigger play & finna swoop Paul George from Magic + LeBron
And hopefully the Nets will have a respectable record in 4 years

I also wouldn't doubt he had character concerns. He's a certifiable hothead, with techs galore, constant dirty play that would have made the dirtiest guys from the 80's blush, near fights and bar brawls under his belt. I don't even mind it, at least if he were on my team, though he's relatively unlikable when on another team, but I'm guessing there were reports coming into the draft that he was a little off and possible worry it would manifest into some sort of actual off court disaster.

Brooklyn Nets 2017 Draft Thread
This potential Boston-Philly blockbuster trade is exactly why it was absolutely silly to worry about the pick. Everyone was so 110% sure that Fultz would be wearing green. Now, he's likely headed to Philadelphia.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Marks tweak his plans a bit depending on what happens between now and Thursday.

If Semi isn't the type to get into off court trouble I don't mind injecting some emotion into the mix as long as he is coachable and will do what he's asked from the staff.

That makes no sense, you're automatically assuming that Celtics would lose in that potential trade. It is being reported that Celtics might get the Lakers' unprotected 2018 pick in the trade, which could be extremely valuable, with that draft having Luka Doncic.Paradise wrote:This potential Boston-Philly blockbuster trade is exactly why it was absolutely silly to worry about the pick. No. What I'm saying is that for a year everyone was scared of gifting to Boston is likely going elsewhere and will make the Philadelphia Sixers look like 2010 Thunder. My point is we can't build a team based off of what didn't happen yet. Now, we see that Philly is building a organic GS/OKC team and Boston is building a super team. Playing Lin more games and Brook more games going to change that? A lot of the arguments stemmed from fans wanting young guys benched in fear of a Top pick developing in Boston.
We may wake up on Friday to a division core of
BOS - IT / Jackson / George / Horford
PHI - Fultz / Simmons / Saric / Embiid
Boston isn't going to lose the deal because it's virtually impossible for them to squander their assets since they have so many including FA options. We're looking at the pick maximizing TWO teams.
Philly will end up profiting from Billy King the way we expected Boston to benefit...Barring the deal going through and it sounds 95% done.
Yes, Fultz / Simmons / Saric / Embiid is a better core than what Boston might do unless it's a Butler/Jackson/George crazy kind of deal.
Fultz, Simmons and Embiid are three franchise caliber players under 23.

Fultz and Simmons have yet to play a single minute in the NBA and you're declaring them franchise caliber players already?Paradise wrote:DarkXaero wrote:That makes no sense, you're automatically assuming that Celtics would lose in that potential trade. If Boston slides down to #3 to get the player they wanted all along (Josh Jackson) WHILE getting an unprotected 2018 pick from a lotto team (Lakers), it's a great deal for them. And it's only possible because we gifted them a #1 pick. No matter where that pick ends up, the truth remains that we basically lost a #1 pick for nothing and directly strengthened our division rivals in a huge way.

Fultz is a can't miss scoring prospect. Simmons was an all around can't miss prospect. I don't see what's so laughable about it. This is a general league consensus. Not even just fans.

i think it would do the opposite. it would mean thet half the guys the tanked for ended up leaving the team without much to show for iti.
MCW, Noel, Okafor would have netted them basically a couple second rounders and moving up 2 spots in the draft. Embiid could very well be headed down the greg oden path.

there is nothing cant miss about simmons. fultz as well. both could end up just being fringe borderline 1 way allstars.

Yeah, there's a lot of coulda woulda shoulda come draft time. So what? Kyrie was a 5 game sample prospect. John Wall could've been a fringe all star too. He had no jumper. That has nothing to do with the facts.
The kid is beasting in workouts and hasn't been reported to shown any major weaknesses against his peers. He's gotten endorsed by guys like T-Mac. Professionals get paid to scout and most of the league believes he's going to be a perennial scoring guard.
