Yeah if Ainge does that that's a fireable offense. I think it's clear he wants at least #3 and LAL 2018.

He's (hopefully) not Phil Jackson. Draft Express said we'd only trade the pick if Ainge gets a "Brooklyn-type fleece" so I'd assume #3 and LA 18 are definitely in there

Givony tweeted that at Ainge's request. It's Ainge who wants to trade down. Always amazing the bias Boston continually gets in the national media.

Here's my guess:

Lakers pick is at least top-1 protected, if not top-3 protected (otherwise turns into Kings '19 unprotected).

Boston also gets worst of Phi/Kings '19 (complicated protection is based on what happens if Lakers pick does not convey in '18).

Absolutley. Its in the new CBA. Tricky thing is how to ensure a pick of some type conveys.

I have a feeling Ainge is trying to do another version of what he did in 2008 with the Celtics getting Ray Allen and KG. I bet he'll try to use our picks to get Butler and then get Griffin or Hayward, creating a veteran big 3.
